Any chance we'll get either of these anytime soon?

I sorely miss both games ;__;

Me too. I sure hope so. My collection is incomplete without them. :-(
I wouldn't mind Ultima 8 if they tossed in Lost Vale of course which would be impossible since the master for it was sold to a collector if memory serves

As for 9 I rather forget existed and would rather have Bioware/EA re-release Worlds of Ultima 1 and 2 but that's just me.
Both please!

I have Pagan and just about got it going on Win7 recently but it was a painful experience and doesn't work very well. Really enjoyed it first time though.

As for 9, this should still look pretty good now and although the gameplay wasn't up to previous standards it was the ending of a superb series, so would love to play this again.

I think they are on GOG's plan, but having given us the 2 parts of 7 recently they may have this down for later in 2012.

"little fella praying"
I... remember the various bugs and problems with U9. Honestly I'd rather not play that again. The horror of 20 skeletons spawning in the same place, then being replaced with giant skeletons, and the bodypools I'd use to dump major bodyparts in to prevent reanimation every single spawn still haunts me.

And the warehouse in Britain that refused to remain clear of rats.

And the dragons that just rained gems everywhere...

And the loading zone glitch where I was stuck forever if I managed it...

And... *cries a little*

I wonder if I'd play U8 again though. Hm.
The game had major issues it's true, but very few remember that it had a massive patch almost a year after release which fixed all of the critical issues and even added some bell and whistles :)

I personally loved U9 even though it was a very different type of game from it's predecessors.

the music, the cloth map with it's unexplained runes alphabet which you had to decipher, the amazing cinematics.

I would play it again for sure!
Pagan. Ascension. Maybe. My recent attempts to play U9 again have left me less than happy. A third of the way through and CTD's become too common.

Savage Empire. Martian Dreams. Absolutely.
Give us all the games!
I hope we get Ultima 8 and 9 on GOG! Complete the collection! =D

I believe the sample box for it was sold to a collector but the master disc is still lost.

(and I totally agree. I want the Worlds of Ultima games)

If you want a good read though Joe Garrity at the Origin Museum did release the plot documents

Nice, thanks for the link.
VIII, properly patched, would be a fine addition to the site. The game really wasn't all that bad, and only got its "Super Avatar Bros." nickname because of a badly thought-out game mechanic that was done away with in later revisions and patches. I see no reason why it shouldn't be here, honestly.

As for IX... I don't know. IX has a really nasty reputation among Ultima fans, for several very good reasons. Even after its last official patch, the game is buggy, poorly designed, entirely too short, and ignores the events of previous games in the name of plot convenience. It should probably be here for the sake of completion, but it would need at least the fan patch (which rewrites the script to take earlier Ultimas into account, among many other things) to be considered at all "acceptable" by series devotees. There's precedent for this; Might & Magic IX, which has a similarly bad name in that fanbase, is sold with a fanmade patch in place.

Looks like one of our prayers was answered today. :)
Anyone know what extra the Gold Edition brings to standard U8?
