Documentation for Nuvie can be found here.

It's release time again. The Nuvie Team is proud to bring you version 0.4!

The big news with this release is that Ultima VI can now be completed in Nuvie without skipping any of the plot or using cheats! This is a big milestone for the project. Thanks to Malignant_Manor for playing through the game from start to finish in Nuvie to verify this.

We have been very busy working since the last release. There have been 280 commits to our subversion server since the 0.3 release.(1.5 commits per day on average) We have spent a fair bit of time on improving the interface logic and ironing out gameplay issues.
Here's a quick summary of what is included in release 0.4

* New experimental fullscreen map mode. With gorgeous new art by Daniel c. Wurl.
* New roof tile system with map editor.
* Overhaul of interface logic with optional new U7 like interface. Removed lots of interface bugs.
* Added key binding system for in-game commands from Exult.
* Attack target memory
* 'command' combat mode.
* Loads of bug fixes
* Loads of small improvements.

There are still bugs to be found and small features to be added (The end sequence still needs doing) but with this release we are drawing ever closer to the big 1.0 release. As usual, please report any bugs on our tracker.

It shows the "smooth lighting" effect. The original U6 used dithering to simulate the transition to darkness which is incredibly pixelated. Compare the darkness in the screenshot above with this image:

Awesome. That really is a great improvement!
The smooth lighting looks beautiful; I played Savage Empire for a while and the darkness effects were really irritating. This looks so much more pleasant. Really looking forward to the next release. Of course I also need to ask the obligatory question: when will 1.0 come out? :)

There's a whole lot of work left to be done and not many people working on the project. Hopefully by next release, fullscreen_map mode will be fully playable. Nuvie might also get menus to change a lot of settings. There's quite a bit of mostly minor stuff that needs fixed in Ultima 6. Martian Dreams and Savage Empire haven't had much completed including a bunch of hardcoded stuff that needs reverse engineered.

In original mode, you still have the option of <interface>fullscreen</interface> which will allow Ultima 7 like full screen item manipulation. More things block the path in Ultima 6 though so the ignore_block interface setting may be liked better.

Using the doubleclick_opens_containers setting can be handy when you have to search things that can be filled with items. Unfortunately, you need to make sure to close them before loading a save or the game can crash.
Cool, I'm amazed that what you guys do is even possible in the first place. I whish I could help out, but by the time I would start to grasp what is going on I'm sure version 2.0 would already be out ^^ Keep up the good work, your improvements really breathe new life in this game.

For the longest time I thought Nuvie was yet another abandoned project, but the 0.4 is absolutely birrliant. Still a bit buggy, but damn, those rooftops of Britannia look sweet addition.
