Has anybody had any luck getting MT-32 working with Exult? For some reason, even though the Exult documentation says that you can change the MIDI mapping in the exult.cfg when I try it, it still uses the default -1 and the music sounds like cats being sodomized with metal poles.

The stdout.txt exult generates says this:

4 Midi Devices Detected
Listing midi devices:
-1: Microsoft MIDI Mapper
0: BASSMIDI Driver (port A)
1: BASSMIDI Driver (port B)
2: Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth
3: MT-32 Synth Emulator
Using device -1: Microsoft MIDI Mapper

No matter what I set it to be in exult.cfg, it just ignores it! *boggle*

I got this to work by doing this

1. edit C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\Exult\exult.cfg
2. find the entry <midi>
3. under where it says </enabled>
add this to it
<win32_device>
3
</win32_device>

or whatever number it says on your midi listing
