Hey everyone!

A bit of a sad heads up today: unfortunately, we are going to be removing UFO: Afterlight from our catalogue tomorrow at 3PM CET due to a recent change in rights holder. We will try our absolute best to bring the game back as soon as possible, but we can't make any promises as of yet. Really sorry about this!

Only just found out about this (as I haven't purchased the UFO games yet, but always thought I might one day), so finding out today via the "What Did Just Update?" thread came a little too late. Why not make these kinds of announcements more visible to all like what was done with GRID recently? :(

Oh well, let's hope you can get it back with its new rights holder. Wonder why the rights only changed for the one game?

Hey, sorry, we normally do a general discussion forum post and a game specific forum post - both were done well over 24hrs before the removal of the game in this case, but it's always possible that some people might miss them. Apologies!
At least, something is moving. I feared the serie was dead. I'd like a UFO:After-4, or a good remake of a UFO:After.
Here's a sensible idea - e-mail notifications for wish-listed games.

Afterlight was the only game of the series that was originally published by TopWare. According to the game page on Steam, the rights have been picked up by Bohemia Interactive.

Given that, I'd say the chances of seeing it return to GOG.com anytime soon are slim at best. Bohemia Interactive has a terrible reputation when it comes to respecting their customers. They're DRM fanatics who love having an iron grip over when, how, and for how long their customers are allowed to play their games. They seem very opposed to the idea of people actually owning copies of their games, and fittingly, they have completely retreated from GOG.com already quite some time ago. You currently can't get any BIS games here.

I am definitely not happy about this. I loved this series of games, and they were so true to the original style of X-COM.

I already own all three on original CDs from when they were released, but I downloaded 1 and 2 from GoG because I like the simple / clean package that GoG does... (they just "work").

I came into this forum specifically to ask why UFO 3 wasn't on here, and I guess now I know why...
Yeah I was happy something was hapenning, but that was offering a lead coffin to Aftermath :/
