Well, I'm getting further into UFO: Aftershock, now, and I'm having a bit of a problem. It's only been three in-game days since I started, but I already control most of Europe. Resources are running low, and while I've been able to survive by begging resources off of the natives, I'd really like to be more self-sufficient. I know I control enough mines to fulfill all my consumption needs, but there's a problem: Whenever I try to build tracks anywhere, the game basically stops.
The game clock moves forward, and the world changes accordingly, but whenever I order tracks to be constructed, I can't do anything else. I can't order the Laputa to move, I can't do any missions, and basically all progress halts until I stop trying to build tracks. I also cannot build more than one track at a time. Also, several of my tracks have turned red, for no apparent reason. The manual really doesn't tell me anything of value about how the track system works; it seems like its supposed to be really simple, but it's just not working for me, somehow.
So, here are my questions:
1. How long does it take for a track to be built?
2. How do you build a track? Yes, I know it's in the manual, but by this point I'm convinced that the manual is full of lies.
3. What does a red track mean?
4. Unrelated: is the GOG version of Aftershock already patched to 1.2?
