I have a problem with UFO: Aftermath. I can't complete the Area 51 mission. Hopefully, someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I go into the library, get one of my guys to pick up the computer and put it in his backpack, go back to the entrance (where the white arrow is pointing after you've picked up the computer) and try to end the mission. It tells me the mission is failed. I've tried transferring the computer from his backpack to his hands, but got the same result. In the end, I ended the mission anyway, and the strange thing is that the computer showed up in the list of things I got from the mission, but it didn't affect anything. The mission was still on the map, and no new research or development options were opened.
Does anybody know what I'm missing here?

I remember something about this. Have you tried dropping the item when you get back to the exit zone and then picking it up again? I'm sure this has cropped up before when I played the game a few years back. Not sure if that will help at all.

Sadly, it made no difference whatsoever. Surely the game can't be stupid enough to require me to carry the computer in my hands the whole way, and not even tell me about it, can it?
However, your post gave me an idea. I switched it to the guy's hands, left the exit zone, and went back into it. That worked. Apparently, you have to carry the computer INTO the exit zone in your hands for the game to realize that you have it.
Congratulations, you get the rep ;-)
thank you both for this that was rather annoying
