What would you say are a good set of mods to use on this game during a first play through that would enhance the experience, but do not change the mainline game play much?
I would also be interested in any mod information for a first playthrough. I have found that in rpgs like fallout 3, obilivion, and mass effect, that there is often a few problems with the game that modders have fixed.

You don't really need mods for two worlds, those other games needed mods because they were dumbed down console ports, and it was left up to the community to fix problems, gui and balance issues.
Two Worlds seems to be more optimized for pc, perhaps because they didn't have the luxury of being lazy, having no name brand recognition.
It may not have crysis level graphics and movie-studio voice-acting, but it has polish on the gui and gameplay, which IMO is pretty important.

Ok, I have to ask a questions regards control panel:-
If someone has a turbo nutter ninja bastid PC, what settings should be changed to:-
Increase draw distance ?
Have high detail textures in the mid to far distance ?
Stop the clipping that seems to occur with grass/tress/scenery etc ?
(essentially, make this game look as amazing as possible)
....and finally,
is there an album by the band that sang the theme tune, if so, where ?

My advice is to always start your first play through with the vanilla game. Once you've gotten a feel for the game then you'll have a better idea of what mods you want to add. In my case, I often pass over popular "must have" mods simply because they address an aspect of the game that I happen to prefer.
I did install the Detailed Enemy Stats stats mod after playing for a little while, It really helped me get a sense of how the game worked and let me avoid unnecessary deaths.

I want to know this too.
Unfortunately this song is a bit of a mystery. The composer is Harold Faltermeyer, the singer is ambermoon(kyra) or kyra(ambermoon) and the songs name is "play the game". That is where things dry up, the singer is the important bit but outside of two worlds she doesn't seem to exist.
So sorry I can't tell you an album or any more information. I can speculate on things like the singers origin being Polish, that may help as a starting point but who knows if that is correct.
If anyone knows more I would love to know.
