I'm replaying TW1, and I've been having a bunch of issues with the sound. Some sounds (ambient things like birdcalls or the hum from shrines) sometimes loop, repeating a fraction of a second of their length many times in a row before cutting out. Further, there is absolutely no voice sound when anyone talks.

I originally played TW1 in late 2011, and it ran fine, with no sound issues at all; this time, I had to install the Nvidia legacy drivers to get the game working. I'm on Vista (32-bit). Fiddling with the game settings does nothing, and it doesn't call for any missing drivers or anything. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been playing this game for weeks. This problem appeared to me just today when I started the PC with the speakers. The game lacked music and speech. As soon as I started the computer without the speakers in the back, only with the headphones in the front, the problem was solved.
a bit too late... maybe someone finds this useful
