I want to apologise for my review of the game. I do get annoyed rather quickly with games that count on user's reflexes.

In this case, it is movement. It feels like you always run behind the animations. Input will trigger the animation to start and the next input will trigger the next animation to start, but you cannot cancel any action. This is really something one needs to get used to.

Today, bored at work, I saw the 330 pages strategy guide and the map 0.o

Of all the islands, I only discovered about this of Erimos:

//edit: the guide states, the necri are resistant to lightning, poison, cold and water damage. Somewhere else I heard they are also resistant to slashing weapons? http://i.imgur.com/SaI2YZ2.png

//edit: Treasure Hunt or Schatzsuche, I assassinated the three guards and looted them, as good as stealing :P

Just want to update:
Controls are still weird, but you learn to plan ahead with the movement.

Combat is fun as a fighter, you can jump into the crowd (make sure you bring some healing potions) and with high enough block skill (90%+ damage reduction while blocking) bash away. I feel/felt so overpowered at times, that I get killed instantly without the block :D
Damage dealt highly depends on the resistances of your opponent and if he is humanoid or immune to knockdown (knocked down foes are killed instantly). I love the skin of the Two-Handers and Halberds. Spears and staves are OK, but not enough damage.

I only recently discovered traps, occuli and bows.
This is really fun, you can use the flying eye to discover a camp, then lay traps where you think the enemy wanders. Pull them with the bow and keep shooting until they end in the trap before you. My damage is really low because of my precision, but I can actual kill stuff with a bow and traps have generic damage if your skill is high enough to use them (like 2000-4000 at the moment).

The quests are plenty and can become overwhelming. You come into a new place with ONE entry, get a cut-scene at every corner and leave with ten open quests.
Some of these are quickly done, go there kill this or that. Doing the quests requires different skills, but nothing you cannot do with each of the three classes. If you have to pick a lock, it is usually easier than other locks or you can bash it open. Playing the songs does not require to actual hit any correct note on the different instruments. Hiding somewhere, means standing around a corner until the cut-scene is finished etc.

My boat... I love it. Explore the ocean and cross over to another island, no need for teleporters :)

And updated map of what I discovered.

Wohoo, I get more and better polearms. The animation is really nice, even though the weapon is large enough to be impressive it doesn't stick in the ground as in many other games. Sometimes it crosses the texture of the character but this is ok.

All the side quests, I could find, are done on the island. Two are missing and I tend to soon ask the internet for the solution. Some book for a guy in the university and the 15 pieces of papers (I got already 14 of them). My reputation is close to or already 100 with most factions, I need to go back to the Savanna and do more horse racing I presume.

I love the idea of those cutscenes to show what happened in the past around this area to give you side quests. This reminds me of some other game, where you could see ghosts and had flashbacks etc. or was it a movie?!? No Metro, a game unfortunately not on GOG yet. I saw a trailer which is very horrific this way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV5XInC79GE (5min+ where you start to hear the baby cry).

Next is to do the few remaining islands in the east and north. I'll also check the area south east of Erimos again with my boat and scan the horizon if I missed something.

Then there is nothing left to do in the south and I will finish the main quests (now the step with some spring in the swallows).

p.s. can I load my horse onto the boat?

Weird, there is a whole continent not discovered, because you just cannot leave the swamp. If I try to leave it, after finishing ALL quests possible, by jumping over some trees, it just ports you back.

I am able to port back to my boat over some other stations and can discover the rest of the last island this way. There is yet to be found equipment in higher tiers, not even needed/available before the main main story is finished.

Anyway, you can wander around at the end and enjoy the freedom you had during the whole quest line. The world is not updated with the latest events, so the dialogues won't change.

The last savegame can be imported into the pirates extension, which I had a glimpse at and seems to be other islands with a complete new storyline. No mention of Dar Pha, where is actual Reeza, and it looks a little odd to stand between the pirates in a full plated armour :D
Why not start a brand new PC and write down your own micro-journal (or tips well do) about all your encounters in this forum? Hence you are pretty good at this seems to me. I’ll definitely subscribe your topic. Looking forward to your epic journey, and one more thing, don’t forget the photos :D
I'm not certain, but isn't there a large landmass that's only for multiplayer? Maybe that's why you can't explore it. Haven't played yet myself, however, so I don't know for sure.

The third continent. It has the inescapable swamp from Chapter 3 and the castle from the Prologue and Chapter 4. Beyond that, there are some small interior areas you can get to (a couple of Varn encampments and a major Varn village), but the majority is surrounded by impassible mountains. People have mentioned you can cheat your character there, but you either only see grassland, or get teleported back to the coastline.

The WorldMerge mod duplicates the third continent and uses the empty space in both for the multiplayer maps. The islands for the Pirates of the Flying Fortress add-on are added to the extreme NW of the map. A quest in the north central area of the savannah will net you a dozen or so Scapalari brains which can be used for water walking, if you want to explore early (not added by the mod, it's in the vanilla game).
