I purchased two copies of Two Worlds when it came out years ago. (not online) It was full of bugs and had problems but the worst of it was the DRM. It made you get a new key from support (phone call as on-line didn't work) every time your system sneezed. While I put up with the problems, I finally put it on the shelf.
Ironiclly, just a few months ago I wanted to try it again and see if things had been fixed... But since that time I've moved. And guess what, game won't even install for me because my country is not supported. (region locked)
I know GOG says they sell "DRM free" games, but I've already got burned badly over this game and don't trust it on the multi-player side. DRM FREE means they don't require on-line activation, or keys as that is a form of DRM. Yet I noticed that people have said you have to request a key to play MP. Who's servers does that get validated with? GOG or Reality Pump? As I recall you had to be online to even play single player. Is that still a requirement?
So yeah, I got burned by this very game and DRM once, so understand if I'm a bit untrusting of "DRM Free" version that still requires keys.

You can play on the official servers with the key from GOG.
And if you play singleplayer only you don't have to register anything, just install and play. You won't need internet or phone or any sort of CD-Key until you want to go online. And even then it's just entering the key and creating an account. :)
As for the region restriction, i don't know about that. But i don't think it's in the GOG version.
I cannot confirm this though, because Commandos 1 for example still has it's unremovable region restriction for germany because of nazi symbols, but this can easily be bypassed by changing region settings in Windows to Austria. ;)

Anything is considered DRM these days...definitions vary. Suffice it to say, it's extremely unlikely you would ever be inconvenienced.
Single player does not require an internet connection nor do you need the key at any point.
Multiplayer keys are required for this and other GOG games due to technical limitations--removing it could complicate matters on the server end since other versions still need keys (and are connecting to the very same servers), and it would also mean freeloaders could pirate the game and play on the hosted servers without ever having contributed anything towards their upkeep (plus they would be indistinguishable from paying customers).
Multiplayer keys are validated through Reality Pump, not GOG, but the process is done completely through the game (no web browser etc. needed) and takes mere seconds, and after that you go straight to the server browser. The game automatically remembers your user data so you will never see any of those steps again unless you reinstall the game. Reality Pump sends an email confirming your activation and providing a code for a special in-game item, but you don't need to do anything with this information.

Oh yeah I remember the DRM for Two Worlds when it first came out. Hell, since I was in the Philippines with no steady internet connection, I stopped playing for a while until GOG released this Epic Edition. I love it! Yihaa!
Thank you. I was wondering the same.

How do you get a key?
For Two Worlds 2:
My Account => Two Worlds 2 => On the left side at the bottom under My serial number

For the first Two Worlds Game:
Dont know, because I got it from somewhere else.

This is a single-player game, primarily. I think anyone who buys this game for "multiplayer" is, well, a bit "unhinged," possibly...;) j/k....sort of. Playing this game multiplayer seems to me like buying Quake 3 for the single-player game...;) Madness incarnate...;)
