Greetings,

I got Two Worlds 2 for free here during a sale, and was wondering how essential it is to play Two Worlds 1 before starting the second part. Skyrim for example has some references to the previous Elder Scrolls games but you can still get the whole story without having played Oblivion.

Is it the same with Two Worlds?

Yes, it's the same with Two Worlds. TW2 is completely self-contained.

Thank you! Guess I can skip the first one then.
The first game has many flaws and I wouldnt recommend it. The second game is ok and in some aspects even really good.
Yeah, there's some references to the first one (the protagonist and the villain are the same guys, since it builds off the evil ending of TW1) but other than that you're good.

Personally, I like the first game better. The world was more visually interesting and diverse, and couldn't really die (you just respawn at the nearest shrine with no penalty) so exploring was always fun. If you like this one, I say give it a shot at some point, just expect lots of low-budget cheesiness.
