Yet another game from my nastalgia that refuses to work. I don't know why GoG keeps putting these things up when they just. Wont. Work. Tropico 2 is just the lastest on a list of games that you have to search around for the slightest chance you'll find a solution to make an old game run on current systems.

"Just get DxWnd" I hear you say. Yep that makes it load in a window. And then crashes when you start a level. This happens with or without the ADDED PROGRAM YOU HAVE TO GET IN ORDER TO MAKE THE MENUE SCREEN NOT LOOK LIKE ASS.

Won't run in a window with alt enter so you know. Awesome. But doesn't matter because it crashes when you load a level.

Compatability mode does nothing as well

"Alter the ini file", you say. Yeah no that doesn't work either. And one option someone said to use slowed the menue, the friggen MENUE to a crawl

Think at this point I need to stop hoping to relive the past because no "Good Old Games" will work for me, and leave it where it lies; in a scratched, unplayable cdrom in my closet.

Not sure which tweak guide you've been using so you may or may not have tried this. Had already tried both of these. Sadly, nothing worked. Like I said earlier just another waste of money

Instead of whinging on about whether or not it "works" for you you should have applied for a refund. GOG has a 30 day money back guarantee. If it really won't work, they WILL refund your money.

Unless, of course, you are too busy whining and complaining.

Personally I have yet to have a single GOG game fail to work for me. Yes, I sometimes end up in the troubleshooting section or googling for a solution to a problem. But they have always worked without much trouble.

Unlike Steam, where I have stuff that has never run on any computer and where they are super duper stingy with refunding. Only once have I ever wangled a refund out of them and then they didn't refund all the games they said they would. They only refunded ONE, and that with great reluctance, a lot of trouble, and threats. On their part. I was threatened with having my STEAM account blocked for what turned out to be a $3 refund (instead of $12 if they had actually refunded all the games they were supposed to).

Hence I only buy on GOG now, and I buy on GOG even if I have it on Steam because Steam are thieving liar pants who might steal all your games at any second for no reason at all and then you have NO RECOURSE whatsoever.

Steam sells craptons of abandonware that they won't refund even if you can never get it to work. It just happens to be NEWER abandonware. If you have trouble with a game there they won't help you, period paragraph. They refer you to the developer - and in every case where I've had a problem with a game, the developer links on Steam are dead. Mail bounces. If you hunt them down (a lot of these guys change company names/websites/email addresses in order to continue to perpetrate fresh game insults) they won't respond.

Thanks. I'll stick with GOG.
