According to the gamepage, Tropico 2 needs a CD/DVD Drive to run. Why? The game is a download, not a disc.
Do I have to burn a CD/DVD to put it in the drive while I´m playing? Isn`t that DRM?

EVERY computer had a disc drive for many years. There are quite many games from this period with this same problem. If you do not have a cd/dvd/bd drive, just mount a file as a virtual drive, usually ANY file will do, like an empty text note.

So, if I install Tropico, it just detects that there is a CD/DVD drive and is satisfied then? It doesn`t look for a specific disc? Or a disc at all?

I am not sure but I guess I could try removing my dvd drive and installing the game if you give me a minute. I just know that is enough for some other games.

I would need to shut down my computer in order toremove the drive.

Oh, I just found this thread:
https://www.gog.com/forum/tropico_series/cant_fint_tropico_gold_cd_disk_1
Seems, as if the gampage is correct. Or at least was correct. Maybe they fixed the problem since then.
You can try without emulating a drive first as it seems to run fine as is except I had to do one other fix to get it running; changed the .ini file slightly following the suggestion of severalthreads in here.

Hm, the more I read in the Tropico subforum, the less I want to play the first ones. There`s one thread about that the game has a bug, were the hospitals and clinics don`t get workers, no matter what one does, this makes the game impossible.
Nobody knows a solution, or what causes he bug.
But thanks for your kind help, at least I know know, that the game might run without the original cd.
