I just downloaded Tropico from GOG. I played the Tropico 1 tutorial. Is there any reason to start with Tropico 1 or should I just jump straight into Tropico 2?
Tropico 1 and Tropico 2 are two DIFFERENT games... One depicts city building in theme of Governing isle in modern age (20th century) as Presidente and the other Governing isle in 1600s as Pirate. Get it?

Got it. Thank you, postafflatus. That explanation was what I needed.

And the gameplay elements in both game are very different, it's not just aesthetics. So, if you don't like T1 you might still like T2, vice versa. I prefer T2 as it offers an unique and interesting concept.
