on Steam Community website I found solution for all of you who have black screen issue (unfortunately cannot paste the link here):

"Linux black screen issue
Some users are reporting a black screen issue on startup. We believe this is likely due to missing dependencies on some systems which may not be installing properly. Most likely you need the sdl2 dependency:

Debian/Ubuntu: libsdl2
Arch Linux: sdl2
Fedora/CentOs/Red Hat: libSDL2"

It works for me (Linux Mint 17.2, I simply installed libsdl2-2.0-0). Hope I helped.

thank you. In my opinion it will be more convenient if those kind of information will be provided in more obvious way. Especially when try to run game (game should inform about it on start). My computer is not so old, so I used to simply run games on it without worrying for hardware requirements (I need only reduce the resolution and number of details from time to time). ;-)

That did replace the black screen with some credits and played some nice music.

But it seems to stop at that - I never get to the main menu of the game...
