Yeah... the game sold here on GOG is Torchlight (1), which doesn't support multiplayer of any kind, just your old-school single player hack-and-slash dungeon crawler action RPG. Which works fine for me, as I'm not a fan of online stuff, unless it's something really awesome (like Nox's multiplayer, even though I always preferred the coop modes, whereas everyone seems to like PvP more).
I never tried any mods for Torchlight, so I don't know whether there is one to enable multiplayer, though I wouldn't think so. Only Torchlight 2 supports it -- they're not the same game.

Still I would keep your eye on it (particularly around holidays) if you're interested. I was able to pick this up last Christmas at that same price of $9.99. I don't know how often Runic puts it on sale, but maybe worth watching for.

You're right of course. But I couldn't hold out any longer. I just went and bought it from Relic.
It's wonderful. But much stingier with spells, and some skills are now turned into spells, so stingier still. Not enough to hurt the gameplay though. Playing with Synergies mod, liking that too. Especially the increased bag space.

Ironically, I got a non-Steam DRM-free version of Torchlight gifted to me on GamersGate. My brother tossed it to me, not knowing I already had the GOG version. Works just like the GOG version, with lower hardware requirements.

And what is the DRM if I buy T2 form Relic's web site compared to Steam, does the Steam version requires to log-in to Relic's site or something like this 3rd party DRM?

Relic's version of Torchlight only allows 10 installs before requiring repurchase. Steam's (and GOG and GamersGate) allows unlimited installs of Torchlight. Of course, DRM-free versions allow you to copy it to a disc or external hard drive, from where you can re-copy it whenever you wish.
The Torchlight II issue isn't so much "DRM" as it is using Relic's servers for online multiplayer. Whether you buy Torchlight II from Steam or Relic, you'll still need to set up an account and password for online play. Single player mode in Torchlight II doesn't require an account and password.

The "1.8 GHz" part may be a typo on GOG's part. Because every other site says "800Mhz". Same thing with Retro City Rampage: I have coworkers who play it on netbooks with 1.6 GHz (single core) CPUs, yet GOG's store page says "1.8 GHz".
