Evening gents, I've been using a few reskins of each PC, SSS's HR retexture pack, Reat's Hardcore Supermod Overhaul, and a Darnified automap. Unfortunately, Torchlight still keeps on crashing on me every half hour or so. A great game nonetheless.

Are these mods working as intended regarding thier functionality? So you just have to save more often to overcome instability?

All are working fine, except possibly the RHSO, because I am not familiar enough with Torchlight to properly assess how much more difficult the game has become. In fact, I would endeavour to say that it is easier than usual, but then again, my character is only around level 15. I can definitely tell the gameplay has been affected by the RHSO though, in that magic items no longer need to be ID'd, item stats have been changed, health regeneration is always on, etc.

I'm not sure how many people have similar crashing issues like I do, and I don't want to derail this thread too much, but I generally can predict when the game will crash, because certain layers of the GUI begin to disappear around 10 seconds beforehand, and the game begins to lag. Since Torchlight has a quicksave mechanism, unlike Diablo, it is simple enough to just save, exit and restart to avoid losing data.Yes it's annoying, but it could be worse.

This is a sticky and you don't provide the links to these mods? Come on guys. How are we supposed to know if it's Gender Mod 1 or 2?

Also I installed the gender mod and it's not working. I go into the make new character and they're all the same.

THIS JUST IN:

EMBERFIEND DOES NOT WORK!

you click the ore and the screen brings up the black bars but nothing happens. and you're stuck. it just keeps you stuck there and the game just continues with black bars and you can't move or get out or even exit the game. I had to ctrl+alt+delete and end the program to get out of it.

I've never modded anything before, but just got Torchlight and I'm looking forward to some of the mods.

Can multiple mods be played all at the same time? For instance, can Torchlight be run with Emberfiend, Texture Project, and Merchant pack mods all running at the same time? Or is is more of an either or thing?

Months late, but to answer your question: Yes, for the most part multiple Mods will work at the same time.

Known incompatibilities are usually listed in the Mod's README or description. But I have personally used Diablo Font, Emberfiend, GenderMod, Merchant Pack, and Minimal Hud at the same time..

I don't know if anyone already mentioned this, but there are problems while using both Emberfiend AND the Gender Mod.

Specifically, I ALWAYS got a bug (a neverending animation, and when I clicked on the screen to end it, my character got stuck without me being able to move or use the ESC button) when trying to mine the new ressources introduced in Emberfiend (Ember, Iron, etc).

After seeking an answer on the almighty internet, I understood what was wrong : the Gender Mod was interfering! I was trying to mine with my female Alchemist, and it appeared that the animations for the three new character skins introduced by the Gender Mod were missing, so there was NO animation for my female Alchemist. Which means, no way to mine anything.

So, beware, if you have both Emberfiend AND the Gender Mod installed, you might not be able to mine ore if your character is a female Destroyer or Alchemist, or a male Vanquisher.

Is it possible for the OP to provide links to the working mods for the lazy forum users like me?
