Oh wow. That is sort of like the music they had in TR2.

Thanks!
Thanks so much for the help guys, now I know what to look out for at least, and know that as my game is running now, the 'music' is not present.

Now, I've tried doing exactly what OP sugested.

When I hit the GOG made shortcut (after transfering the correct files) DOS Box will open, get as far as the black screen and command line. Then just cut. Nothing happens.

I've installed the game in the Program Files. Is it supposed to be installed just to the C\:GOG area instead?

It's only annoying because seemingly everyone else has got it working. I don't know what i'm doing wrong. I'm comfortable with managing files.

1) I installed All 3 Tomb Raiders.
2) Installed the GOG Patch.
3) Installed Tomb Raider1 (with music files)
4) Copied correct files across, changing selected file names etc.
5) Go to run Tomb Raider 1 from desktop shortcut. - Will not run.

Am I missing something? (Using Vista 32)
Try right clicking and running as admin. I rarely install stuff to Program Files nowadays due to permissions issues.
Aye, I tried.

I've narrowed down the issue as much as I can.

Skipping the Tombeng file transfers, I can copy over the tomb3dfx.exe, tombub.exe and Data folder; then delete the tomb.exe, then change tomb3dfx.exe to 'tomb.exe', and the game will still run fine on clicking the GOG-made desktop shortcut. (without the music of course, but it will run).

The issue is with these Tombeng files. It seems to not like me deleting the GAME.DAT file and replacing it with this renamed .cue file. DOS-BOX will just cut out.

There's gotta be a way to say...transfer the data from the tombeng.dat file and just plonk it into the GAME.GOG file.

In fact...shouldn't GOG be doing this seeing as an important fix has been located?

What could it be? It's highly unfair

Make sure that the tombeng.bin is in the same folder as game.dat.
Also do not rename it to game.gog.

Game.dat is essentially just a track list. It points to the mp3 files in the TR folder. tombeng.cue on the other hand links to the tracks contained in tombeng.bin. Replacing game.dat with this will simply make dosbox use the new tracks.

I actually had this same problem earlier today and was struggling with it as well. I found out that the issue was that changing the name of tombeng.cue to game.dat wasn't doing me any good because it was staying a .cue file (it was just NAMED game.dat). So I fixed it by opening the file in notepad, going to file, clicking "Save As" (make sure the "Save as type" section says All Files instead of Text Documents) and saving it as game.dat. That changed it into an actual .dat file and the game worked with music and all.

Try it out, hope it works for you. :)

Same here. The whole domain is gone, apparently. Would be great if someone uploaded the Patch to some filehoster.
Tomb Raider Hub is back online again, for those of you who have been trying to download the installer.

Maybe someone should upload the patch to Mediafire or somewhere else, just as a backup. :)
Thank you good sirs, it seems to have worked! First time for me to hear this music in TR 1, can't wait to play the whole game to see how it plays with those music tracks =D

Wow I arrived at the Lost Valley and already heard so much tracks throughout level 1 and 2 that are definitely worth hearing :o.

shrensh: Then the version with the PlayStation music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J46LUtuv9_E You need to use the installer to get the music in the second video.
How many music tracks are there, and how often are they played?

I did the installation as instructed, game works fine, but since I didn't hear any extra music anywhere (besides the normal ambient sounds and echoes, as I remember from the original PC version), I thought something must be wrong with my installation.

But near the end of the first level where there is yet another encounter with two wolves (you run down a long set of stairs), I suddenly got that same music track as in that video. Should I have heard something already before, or is that the first time there is in-game music? And is it always that same music track?

I did play also the Playstation version back in the day at my friend's place, but frankly I don't remember how much music it had...
Looks like the site is down again :(

I originally played the Saturn version which had the same music as the PS one. So many good emotions from that music - it was a huge part of the whole experience. I can't believe it's not included with the GOG download!

Thanks! I've never been able to experience Tomb Raider like this on the PC. It always puzzled me that they didn't include these tracks in the PC release, because, if anything, the PC should be much more capable than a Sony PlayStation 1 or Sega Saturn. Though it could have been a budget or compatibility thing or something.
