This game - the whole series - I never did like the "jump and clasp" business and it gets old real quick. You combine that with the obtuse design, weird controls - it's incomprehensible how this series even became popular. It's not user-friendly, mysterious, and more frustrating than anything.

The only real APPEAL I see from this game is Laura's scanty clothes and heavy rack - I'm sure there's nude mods galore and I don't want to imagine what some guys are doing whilst playing this game.
Seems you're complaining about the original game and not Anniversary (that one has auto-grab so no "jump and clasp"). Unless I completely misunderstood your post.

Anniversary I don't find to be a great game. I believe is too long and Egypt really pissed me off with the wall traps... Also jumping can be inconsistent, and there's not much "ambience" given how everything is lit.

As for the original, the darkness (blank black backgrounds basically) ended up adding to the dread of exploring ancient tombs where you SHOULDN'T really be messing. And controls though not exactly confortable, did their job and you didn't miss a jump because the game decided to turn off its AI.

For both cases, I believe there are NO nude mods, and as for scanty clothes, those are basically unlockables in the LAU trilogy only I believe, not the originals and certainly not the default clothes (unless a top shirt and shorts is now considered scanty).
I just uninstalled Anniversary and that's what this post focuses on, but it's also just the entire series period. I never really was a fan - I don't get a game developer creating a frustrating game with a terrible camera and bad controls- when there's so many great examples out there. I never understood people glowing about this game or the series - it's absolutely terrible.

Let's see - guys, let's a game that's frustrating and has the user restarting over, and over, and over, and over. This mediocre sh*t never should've saw the light of day. Playtesting alone should've invalidated it before it even got out - alas, the management found this game acceptable and I'm glad it didn't sell.

You've never played Space Bunnies Must Die. Have you?
I (and a lot of other gamers) prefer a camera that makes mistakes than having an entire thumb dedicated to do the programmers job and having a manual camera... (every single game nowadays).

But is ok if the game is not for you. Games used to be different. It wasn't every game for every gamer like now. But one thing has to be said: this game came out before Super Mario 64... 3D gaming was in diapers. The level of control, and yes, even camera, at the time, was revolutionary. Flawed? Yes. But certainly not bad if you take into account the time period.

As for having to keep repeating the same things while failing and failing and reloading... well games used to be harder back in the day. Even Super Mario for the NES was painfully hard. You were not supposed to be on "auto-mode" shooting and advancing the story. It was a challenge and the story a simple excused as an "award" for moving forward.

Different philosophies on gaming design. Nowadays there still are games like this, just not the AAA. That's regarding the original games.

As for Anniversary, half of the things you complain are not there. But the game came out back in the PS2 era (almost 15 years ago to this day), which though not as contrasting with the PS1 era, still were different times. And no, I don't like Anniversary. In fact, is the only LAU game I don't have and will not have. But like I said, not every game was for everyone like now. It's ok if you don't like it, or even hate it... Just play something else.
holy hell the whine on this guy and "nude mod galore"? what are you five? anyway skill issue

What's wrong with the controls? They're pretty easy to understand.

Other then last I checked not displaying nor telling one the controller props just keyboard props .. the controls are fine .. I say this because that is a issue for people and it does make the controls less clear and abit confusing till one gets used to what controller buttons does what in this game
