as the Title suggests Tomb Raider: Anniversary was freezing on the Edios screen and required Ctrl:Alt:Del to the task manager to close. after working on it for a bit here's how I fixed it in the hopes that it may help someone else.
Turn off your Controller until after the Eidos screen. yes it really is that simple. (you do still have to press space on your keyboard to get passed the Eidos screen.)
Yes you can connect a controller safely once you get to the main menu,. Or really at any point AFTER the Eidos screen.
But for what ever reason if you load a game with a controller connected no button or keyboard inputs will work and you will have to force close the application using the task manager and try again. This is consistent and repeatable.
