I can get to the title screen but then can't do anything.
There's items spinning around in a circle.
Does anyone know?

Which one?

It's probably your control setup unfortunately I've forgotten how to remap them.

If you have a game pad hooked up, unhook it, see if that helps.

FYI If you are worried about playing the game without a controller I don't think you'll find the older TR's to be a problem with just the keyboard. Some people will tell you I'm full of it, but I'm a TR junkie and I think just the keyboard makes the early ones way easier by far.

Since you're on line, can you go ahead and mark this as answered? Thank you. :D
On TR1 when I click on start game or new game all it does is go to a black screen TR2 and 3 work fine?
I have the same problem. TR1 don´t work, just the menu, I click on new game or Lara´s Home, and then black screen.
Open dosboxTR_single in the Tomb Raider 1 folder with notepad. Make it look like this

[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
# You can put your MOUNT lines here.

joysticktype=false
timed=false
autofire=false
swap34=false
buttonwrap=false

mount C "..\Tomb Raider 1"
imgmount d "..\Tomb Raider 1\game.dat" -t iso -fs iso
c:
cd TOMBRAID
cls
tomb.exe
exit

You need to add the bit about joysticks. This should fix it.
I tried the fix zjm68 suggested, game still goes to a black screen when I try to enter Lara's house or play the game. It seems strange that this will run on my older Win 7 64 bit comp but not this Win 7 64 bit comp. The only difference I can find is on the older machine the game is installed in C:/program files (x86)/GOG.com/Tomb Raider 1 2 3 and on the new machine it is in C:/GOG games/Tomb Raider 1 2 3. These paths are where the GOG installer put them, I didn't change the install paths.
Tomb Raider 1:
after the circling menu, when I open the passport to play the game freezes up: black screen anc nothing to do.
I read the arcitcles about changing the parameters for joystick in configuration files but nothing works.
My system is Core i7-4790k, Nvidia GTX 970, 16Gb RAM, Windows 7 professional 64bit.

Please help.
thanks.

Same problem here. Has a fix been found for this?
