In the first level of the game, the short bit of background music that plays when you get to the area with the eagles (53.mp3 in the game's music folder) seems to loop endlessly instead of going back to the previous ambient noise (29.mp3) after finishing, like it should.

Saving my game and reloading seems to fix this - at least until the same thing happens whenever I pick up the second secret in the area with the spiked walls and then the secret music starts looping.

Additionally, when I get to the end of level cutscene, the audio for the scene sometimes doesn't play. (Like before, saving my game and loading before the end of the level gets the audio to play properly)

Is there a way to fix this on my side, or is the CD music emulation just broken?

I'm having this problem too, all the music clips in The Great Wall just looped over and over until some other clip was triggered, and the cutscene clip also didn't work. It seems to work in Venice so far. I think it might be because The Great Wall doesn't have ambient BGM to revert back to after playing music clips, but don't quote me on it. Haven't had this problem in any other version of TR2 though.

edit: It happens again in Bartoli's Hideout...

See my thread for how to fix this problem. It will cost you 2 CDs and about an half hour's time but the game will work perfectly after.
I agree that GOG should have caught this issue, particulary since it is a well known issue with these games on modern computers.

Great, I'll go search for your thread then. You know, a link to your thread would have been fairly helpful, considering you've just told us to go see it. Oh well...

GOG just released a separate patch that applies the fan-made multi-patcher to these games. I ran it and it fixed the looping music bug! Problem solved!

Version 2.0.0.7 of the installer *should* have the patch already incorporated into the installer.

I re-downloaded the game and it's STILL bugged. is the patch in a separate folder? or has it not been released yet?
Still bugged for me with 2.0.0.7.
oh wow this used to happen to my disc version of TR3 that was store bought back when it came out (PC version). Every singe noise and music loops until the next one is triggered. However this was because my disc was scratched to hell (I assume). A few rare times on load up sound works fine.

Edit // scratch that the loop on TR2 is different to the one i experienced on tr3. on tr2 it loops the WHOLE track . on tr3 it looped the first like 2-3 seconds of each track so it stuttured lol anyway THIS PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED SO IT SHOULD BE UNMARKED

im going to BUMP this as im having the same issue! GOG is really messed up, they need to TAKE DOWN the TR games for purchase UNTIL they fix it!!!! im about to ask for a refund and get my money back!!
I bought this pack (installer 2.0.0.7 of course) because Tomb Raider 2 was the only game from the series I haven't finished. After finishing the first level and playing a couple of minutes of the second one I can confirm that the sound problem is NOT solved. Cracking sounds throughout the whole level (not a regular thing, very annoying, especially when using headphones), looping music (when vultures attack on the wall the music loops endlessly). When I started the second level the cracking sound became even louder so I stopped playing. This audio problem only happens in TR2, I played TR1 and TR3 for over an hour and everything works flawlessly. Trying to change audio settings from the Start menu in Windows doesn't help.

Summing up - problem is not solved and I would really appreciate fixing it.
