Subject. I want this broken garbage out of my game, but unfortunately, I updated and I don't know how to roll it back to a version that hasn't been butchered with new bugs and blatant AI assets by a new team that clearly doesn't understand how the game works.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

And if we can't, I hope we can slather this crap with negative reviews until the bugs are removed.

you are out of luck for the offline installer but you can still change what version to install via Galaxy. On the games page in your library, click the button right next to play then manage installation and then go to Configure

Thank you! I didn't know that was a thing we could do!

It irritates me that GOG does this with the offline installers, only allowing the download of the latest version...

Can someone confirm which *specific* files are changed by the new patch?

Also, is the desired version 1.01 Patch 4 or 1.0.5d (1.1.0 DLC is the new borked one I presume)?

I only compared the Steam version (because it was the version I was playing before having the game on GOG), but it's a lot of files that have changed, especially some folders called DLC that have been added, and new data inserted into them. I think by now, the easiest approach is to delete everything and replace everything (which is what I did on the Steam version).

For the GOG version, what you want is version 1.0.5d. Just consider that unless you have any backup from the old saves (I did, because every weekend I back up all my saves, either from Steam, GOG or Epic Games into a backup folder), you might have some work to do.

OMG!! Thank you so much. I hate when studios try to make single player games feel like a live-service game by adding update after update and either messing it up or turning the game into a huge, bulky unwieldy mess.

I'm a huge Tomb Raider fan and the Remastered are the best way to play the original games, but not if they keep doing this. It's just gross.

Thanks. I'm on it. :) Will let you all know how it goes.

Edit: isolated all the changed 1.0.5d files to revert (the only completely new ones by the borked patch are in "dlc" folders that can be deleted) and will test tomorrow if overwriting reverts the game version.

If you can succeed in that, you'll be a hero. :)

Someone sent me a message, but I don't know how to go back and find old messages. But I just wanted to say this, in case they happen to read it, thank you so much for reaching out about reverting back to an older version! Thank you again!

At the top (right next to the support dropdown menu), is your main dropdown menu for your account. On that list is the "Chat" selection (right below "Friends"). Click it and the most recent user that msg'd you will be listed at the very top.

Just select that user and you can see what their msg was and reply back if you want to.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much!! I didn't even know I could do anything outside of Galaxy, so I'm still trying to figure out how to do things.

Btw, I found out how to drop to an older version (thank God) but I don't know how to get offline installers for older versions.

Short answer, there are no options for offline installers.

Unfortunately, you can only install the older version via Galaxy install. Where you already discovered how to select it. Offline installers require GOG to add it as an option, like they did with Dragon Age: Origins.

For DA:O, they added the previous version (see note #1) in the Extras section of the game in the Game library of accounts. They also did this for a lot of what they call Classic versions, when certain newer versions replaced them as the main offline installers.

In the case of DA:O, it was likely a response to the GOG community. People are hopeful it will happen with TR I-III Remaster. Though likely only the fixes that Aspyr is currently working on will be replaced. However, if the fix it taking too liong, there may be a possibility. But, I think only Aspyr knows that answer.

Note #1: It would seem the old version GOG added to Extras for DA:O, was a merged version of main installers and the final patch. I don't recall the exact version numbers off the top, but the final patch was a separate exe patch, that was installed after the main installers were installed. There are other threads if you want to see if the merged version has issues or not.

Note #2: Aspyr right now doesn't have the best reputation. How they respond and how they fix these issues could improve that reputation...or it could cement it for a long time. The balls in their court, in a manner of speaking. :)

Awwww. that's kind of depressing. I used to play the Halo MCC but I really just wanted to play the originals. I got tired of having new features I was never going to use and seasons and cosmetics added until finally the game ended up as a 100GB monster of confusing menus and options.
I would hate to see Tomb Raider go the same way.

Okay, I think I've done it.

Made my custom patch, installed it over the latest version, started it up and it seems to run okay. The outfit challenge options are gone from the extras menus, which bodes well that if things are working but those are gone, it is indeed "reverted" to the previous 1.0.5d game version.

I want to be sure before sharing this, however. Even though testing this will be VERY much at own risk (I take no responsibility for messing up your game and requiring a reinstall, or losing any saves/progress) I would prefer to be fairly certain I've not broken anything doing it the way I have.

So, what is the quickest way to know which version I am playing (bugged update or previous good update) when testing? That is, how do I best check if the issues from the patch are gone? Aside from if the new outfit options are there or not (they're gone), since I can't find an in-game "version number" anywhere, even in the credits.

To be honest, I've not played the latest update versions so haven't experienced the bugs reported myself... so what's a really obvious one I can check for without having to play half the game first?

Something I'd really like to know is are any of the cutscenes and music tracks different in the latest update? I ask because the CRCs have changed for the HD OGV videos and OGG music files, but they all seem to be identical at a glance... and leaving them out of the patch if not needed would *drastically* reduces its file size. Does anybody know?

As soon as I can get these answered, I can share my work and hopefully help folks out with this!
