fk.: 'k, I got TR2 to fully work on Windows 10 and I thought I'd share the full steps:

1) As Darucas already said, install the Tomb Raider Multi Patch: http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/vista/patch.html
During installation, select "Extract updates to desktop" under "Utilities" (it asks for a game disk otherwise), then copy the files from the "Tomb Raider Update Files/TR2" folder on your desktop into your TR2 installation folder.

2) At this point, the game will work, but like in Windows 8, will have odd window borders in fullscreen. Install the Fullscreen Border Fix to get rid of those: http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/82-tomb-raider-series-fullscreen-border-fix/

3) The final hurdle are the prerendered cutscenes which refused to play for me. To get them to work, right-click on "tomb2.exe" in your TR2 installation directory, select "Properties", switch to the "Compatibility" tab, tick "Reduced colour mode" and select "16-bit colour".

4) Profit.

The multipatch was already good to have because it fixed some music issues with the GOG version, so the only really new step is the colour depth compatibility setting to get the cutscenes to play. Step 3 will also fix the cutscenes for Tomb Raider 3.
This was just great! your fixes worked perfectly. Before trying this I couldn't get TR2 to load at all and TR5 ran at like one frame every five seconds. Great work, I hope others will give this a try. Thank you
Thank you for this tip.
This also made TR2 running on my windows 10 system smoothly.
Hi, I applied both fixes and in game everything seems to work ok. My resolution is 1920x1200. But I have a problem in menu/inventory. Check the attached pic. The resolution seems to be bigger than my monitor's and part of the image is hidden off screen making it difficult to work with. Any fix for this?

EDIT
nope, the game is not ok, the image isn't centered on the screen but is positioned towards the the right side of the screen, no matter the aspect ratio or resolution :(

When I try to download the multipatch, it counts down then redirects me to a sketchy page and the download never starts. Anyone else having this problem?
Hi everyone. Sorry for the bump to a rather old topic, but can anyone else please confirm if this 100% fixes their issues with Tomb Raider II? I may have to upgrade to Windows 10 when I look into getting a desktop PC, and I would really prefer to not have to buy these games all over again on Steam.

Thank you for your time. :)

EDIT:
1000 apologies. Clicking cancel on the error messages during install works.
I then followed the rest of the steps just fine, except for step 2, and I have a working (so far) game :D

IGNORE ALL BELOW!!
Can anyone give additional guidance :(

I downloaded the multipatch from the link given above

I extracted the trupdate.exe file to the desktop.

I ran the program leaving all the top boxes ticked for TR2-5
I also ticked the "extract updates to desktop" under "utilities"

When I ran the program i got the message TRII CD could not be found in the CD-ROM drive!

Selecting retry doesn't move installation forward but selecting cancel does :(

I really, really want to play the game I payed for :(

Yes, these suggestions fixed my Win10 14393.187 build (1607 up to date) fine! I'm very surprised that GOG hasn't corrected this yet! At the very least this thread should be made a sticky. Also, no problem with cut scenes or sounds. Overall, I find Win10 more backwards-compatible with games than Win7 or 8.

Did you set Reduced Color Mode to 16-bit Color on the executable's Compatibility tab (step #3 of his instructions)? It could be crashing because it's having problems playing the intro movies and that step helps with that.

If that's not it, run the Setup entry in the Tomb Raider II [GOG.com] folder of your Start Menu or create your own shortcut to Tomb2.exe and add " setup" to the target. Mess around with the graphics settings to try to get the game to work. As a last resort, you can disable the FMV movies on the Advanced tab.
Many thanks, that sorted it out no problem.
I also used the widescreen fix, available at Stella's page.
