sometimes when people finish talking they jump to the next sentence super fast. wondering if theres a way to fix that
Experiencing the same thing on my end. Not every time, but enough that it's immediately noticeable.
Just want to add a 'Me too' here in case numbers matter towards getting a fix.
I'm having the same issue.
same here
I checked this with the German version and it happens there as well. So there might not be much GOG could do.

Yeah same thing here. I checked with another copy running via DOSBOX and it definitely wasn't in that version.

It occurs twice in the first conversation with Smethels the steward after he gives you the map.
Both the cabin number and when he talks about how quiet the deck will be are both cut slightly short.

I thought it might be the same problem as No One Lives Forever where it was a frame rate issue but limiting my frame rate didn't seem to fix this.
It's a shame if this does keep occurring throughout the game as the fan made DOSBOX version managed to avoid this problem.

When you are talking about DOSBOX you probably also are talking about a pure DOS version or a version which was using Win31 in it. So we are talking about different versions since this one is supposed to run on new windows systems. Unfortunately GOG probably is not allowed to include any Win31 version in it. I am pretty sure that is the reason. Like I said I tried the regular German version using the executable from the CD directly on my OS and the same issue appears. Probably would not be the case when running in DOSBOX including Win31 but that's not a solution that GOG could use because of Win31.

You are right it does use Win 3.1.
I've tried to run this game multiple ways over the years using virtual machine and then managed to get it working (though extremely buggy) on Windows 7 by manually installing the files (as it was a 16-bit installer).
I don't remember this issue occuring in any of those instances.
I do think that GOG should at least flag up the issue to the developer to see if they can fix it.

They could try but even the developers website is down and the devs don't exist anymore. GOG probably just removed the DRM since zthey usually don't change the gamefiles themselves. I guess it would be better to find a workaround for Win7 instead - i.e. decreasing sound acceleration did help in some cases. If I will find out anything I'll let you know. Of course you can also open up a support ticket on GOG though I doubt it will be of much help.

Cheers, I do have the fan DOSBOX version which runs fine, buying this copy makes me feel a bit more legit (as well as owning the original disc).
I had thought GOG did their best to get old games working on modern machines and generally they do a good job but some have been a bit disapointing e.g Timeshift they never fixed the multicore issue.
I do feel if they sell the game they should at least attempt to fix problems. I will raise a ticket for it.

Oh and I thought I would add as I noticed you were trying to add a german language version. The fan made version does have this if you wanted to have a look at it for you patch.

Thank you, my patch is already finished and seem to work fine. Just have not uploaded it yet :)
I'm also having this issue. Any luck on solving it?
Same problem here. Are you all using Windows 10? I've found quite a few older games have this issue. I never did fix it in Broken Sword for example.

In that game I ended up enabling subtitles and reading ahead, which is hardly a fix.

No, I'm using Win 7 so it looks like it's across the board.

I've now put in a ticket to support and hopefully they'll get this sorted.
