Hi everybody

I have a pre-ragnarok AE full installer, downloaded last summer
I plan to start playing, creating a brand new character

Would the post-ragnarok updates benefit me in any way?

I've noticed that full installers are larger in size now, and i'm wondering if they includes ragnarok files that would be useless for me.
I'm under the impression that all changelogs since last summer are expansion-specific
Is that the case?
Should I download the latest installer anyway?

Yes, it does. There are a lot of things regarding Ragnarök without any sense for us. Me and my friends are playing AE Vanilla too, installed the patches and found a lot of "Ragnarök" stuff - kind of "motivation" to buy the expansion. It's anoying. Some things are working, nice. E.g. different clothes in every act. But the most are just disturbing. In the masteries is the new mastery, but not choosable. The NPCs are selling items you can't use, they are red and telling you "buy Ragnarök!". [And I noticed some animations disappeared - for example the mummies who turn into burning sceleton at their dead - befor ragnarök they were wondering what happened with them before attacking the player; since patch 1.46 they just attack - nothing important, but I like those natty details]
Before this experience we thought to buy the expansion (and we still will - in the future), but in the moment we decided to downgrade back to patch 1.45, the last without that commercial promotion.
I don't use the Galaxy-Client, but some of my friends do; they told me it's easy to go back to a certain patch in Galaxy without installing the hole game, as I did: I installed the hole patch 1.45 again.
But consider - with patch 1.45 you only can play with other 1.45 players. It is not compatible with the current patch (or any other higher patch).

On the other hand, there are also improvements to the skills and bug fixing.

However, the sucky parts are annoyingly visible (items you cannot pickup, sellers who sells stuff you cannot use, an extra Skill Tree you cannot use...) while the good ones are quite subtle.

hi there,

can somebody explain to me, how I can go back to 1.45 Wether with GoG Galaxy or without.
I also want to go back to pre Ragnarok. Liked it better.

One of the reasons I want to go back to pre Ragnarok TQ is, that I'm experiencing some kind of fps drop / slower non fluid animation, when killing mobs. For example, when I kill centaurs in act 1, it looks like the fps drops to 15 - 10, it doesn't look fluid and smooth anymore, like it used to do once. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've sent you a friend invitation. Asked the GoG Support if there is any possibility of getting a pre Ragnarok version of TQ AE.
They said no, not possible. So I really like to contact you.

Hello again, everybody
I'm here with the same question, over 2 years later


I'm going to start a new playthrough soon, and I'm wondering if the issues we talked about then are still there when using the current 2.9 version

- a lot of "Ragnarök" stuff - kind of "motivation" to buy the expansion
- NPCs are selling items you can't use, they are red and telling you "buy Ragnarök!".

Nothing's changed with Ragnarok items appearing in the AE version. It's just the way the devs made it.
