So I never played the original titan quest but I've always heard good things about it, it was dirt cheap here so I figured why the hell not. I've been having an issue really diving in to it though because I'm having this problem where the game very frequently stutters at random times and seems to "rubber band" (frame freezes, and then rapidly catches up to itself, going through the frames it had missed) as if experiencing network lag, even though I'm playing single player. I tried fiddling around with the settings, enabling and disabling v-sync, turning off shadows etc, but either way I'm certain it's not a hardware issue since, well, while this game is beautiful it's still quite old.

Sure it's a minor thing, but I've only been playing an hour or so and it's already gotten me killed when I "lagged" immediately after 5 satyrs rushed me. It's also quite jarring to have the game freeze up for a second or two every single time I open or close a window. Bits of text longer than a paragraph seem to cause large stutters as well, since the game had frozen for a good 15 seconds or so after speaking to Diomedes the second time. Additionally, my character's ragdoll after he died seemed to absolutely tank the framerate as well. Just mentioning because I feel like all of these things could be related.

I'm running on Windows 7 64 bit and I've a GTX 760 graphics card, with 8GB of RAM, and an i7 8 CPU processor. Is there some from of compatibility issue I'm having here, or did the game always run this way? Should I fiddle around in my graphics card settings? Or is everyone else having this issue and I should just wait for a patch of some kind?

Edit: Also, I've suddenly noticed the typo in the topic. Sorry :C

Hi there !

I'm experiencing a lot of troubleshootings with Anniversary...

The main one is a tilting interface and a morphing of the UI fonts.

Running on i5 4590 + GTX 970 4Gb + 16 Go ram.

hope this will be fixed, it's very annoying playing "this way"...
I suffer exactly the same kind of lag problems, in my case an ATI card and windows 10.

five or ten minutes of game play and the game lags randomly, the animations lag, the transportation to city lags, enemies appraching and the game lags, rubber banding when moving. It can be temporarily solved alt tabbing but two minutes later the problem comes back.

My config is windows 10 4gb RAM ATI HD6470M 1GB, quad core intel i3.

Greetings
This same exact thing (lag wise) is happening to me too on both my older and newer pc's,
so this has nothing to do with the hardware on my end ..it seems to be the game itself.

This mainly happens when I die in game and resurrect it lags big time and the same
thing happens when I teleport from someplace to the city hub and then back again.

Older : i7 4770 (air cooled). GTX 760 4GB Superclocked. 8GB DDR3 RAM. Win 7 64 bit.

Newer : i5 6600K (liquid cooled). GTX 1060 6GB GAMING X. 8GB DDR4 RAM. Win 7 64 bit.

Have you guys tried turning vsync on or off (either ingame or in your graphics settings)?
Game is randomly lagging for me too on a big pc (i5 4690k, 16gb Ram, 980ti, Win10). The game freezes for a second or two and then is accelerated to catch up. V-sync off (G-sync screen). It happens quite often.

final_option: Have you guys tried turning vsync on or off (either ingame or in your graphics settings)?
Right now the lagging is the same if I have vsync on or off through the game itself or if I have it set through the Nvidia control
panel there just seems to be no difference. So I'm going to wait and put off playing and see if they'll hopefully fix the problem.

It's doing it to me too, lagging and stuttering a little. Does it both on a regular HD and a SSD.

Yeah, as I had said in my original post I figured vsync would have been a likely culprit and I tested it with it on and off, there was no difference.
Same for me, random sudden drops of FPS without reasons :S
Intel Core i5 2300 @ 2.80GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 (1535 Mo), 6GB DDR3 RAM, Win 7 64 bit.

Hope there'll be a solution/fix soon !

I've played TQ+IT years before the Anniversary Edition and me and my friends always had this kind of problem, no matter the rig. I guess it is the fault of the game engine itself.

Thanks for sharing. Well that's one good reason for the game not being a big success...

Win10x64 Anniv build 1607, fully updated
AMD FX-8320e cpu @4GHz
AMD R9 380 4GB, Crimson 16.9.1 drivers @ 1.1Ghz
GOG version of the game (Anniversary Edition)
16 GBs system ram
Steam version (was given to me on Steam because I owned the earlier games)
Have two versions of the same game, Lol...;)

I have zero lag/stutter. Just don't have any at all, glad to say--and I've got ~30 hours into the Anniversary Edition of the game--single player only. Also running @ 16x AF, Shader cache on, Vsync On. All in-game video IQ options turned on.

Wanted to add that I run the game on a native 1920x1200 monitor in the VSR resolution of 2560x1600, and it is gorgeous--runs beautifully (as stated, no lag/stutter.)

It's also worth noting that on earlier hardware (also all AMD) I played the original versions of the games a couple of years ago--had no trouble with lag/stutter then either, at least that I recall.

It doesn't seem like this is a game-engine problem per se', else everyone would be having similar problems. The game in both versions including the fan-patched 1.17a original game has always run very well for me. Just thought I'd relate my experience in this thread...;)

I disabled the vsync in game and forced it through the Nvidia control panel. That got rid of some of it, but haven't played it enough that way to judge well. Then I tried D3D Overider and forced vsync using it, and that seems to have eliminated the lags/stuttering and rubber banding for me. So for those of you still having this problem, try disabling the vsync in the game settings and forcing it with D3D Overider or through your driver.

EDIT: I take that back after an hour of playing. It still does it some, but it doesn't seem to be as bad. If I figure out how to eliminate it I'll post back here.
