Dear Mac players,

A few hours ago, Apple released a new version of macOS titled Catalina. Unfortunately, our apps Through the Ages and Galaxy Trucker do not yet run on this OS version, as Catalina does not support 32-bit apps and our games have not yet been updated to 64-bit. Please note, that if you update your macOS to 10.15 Catalina, you won’t be able to enjoy Through the Ages or Galaxy Trucker.

We have been working on upgrading our games to 64-bit for several weeks now, but considering the way our system is built and with a limited amount of personnel we can dedicate to this process, it will take us some more time to properly implement and test the 64-bit versions, as this upgrade is a bigger undertaking and means rewriting big parts of the code. We plan on starting internal testing in the following weeks and hope to release the update by the end of November – please, bear with us. We will bring you more info as soon as we know more.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause and are grateful for your patience!

Hey there,

I see that the Mac installer is getting updates, but Mac OS isn't listed on the game page.
Perhaps you'd like to look into it?

Hi,

sorry for taking so long to reply. The compatibility with macOS is not shown on the store page due to Through the Ages not being compatible with macOS Catalina yet. GOG decided this would be better for its users since they might buy a game that they will not be able to run. I cannot disagree with them on this matter.

Once we have Through the Ages ready for Catalina the store page will be updated to show the compatibility as well.

Hi there devs,

I run El Capitan OS (10.11) - should I be able to buy and play even if compatibility is not showing on game screen? Thanks!

Hello,

thanks to you I checked the game and found out it doesn't run properly on macOS 10.11. I investigated the issue and found a solution that should help with this. We will include it in our next update that should come in the next few days. Sorry I didn't reply earlier but I wanted to check if I can bring good news first.

My turn to apologise for the belated reply.

It was brought to my attention that GOG has put a note on all game pages which don't support Catalina (yet). I'd have expected it to be mentioned under the "Game Details", but perhaps that's just me.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi there devs. Checking in to see if there are any updates regarding the Mac version, especially one that works with El Capitan.

Thanks!

Hi,

we made some changes recently and I got to run the game on El Captain. Could you try installing it and see if it works for you well? Let me know how it goes.

Hello,

I downloaded the latest Mac version and installed it. However, I found two bugs (and one is, as you'll see, very annoying):
* Most important one, the game won't launch... Indeed, I just get an error message to be sure that my Mac is up to date, and I can send a report to Apple. No launch at all.
* There is no icon, just the generic App icon from Apple.

(please see attached files)

I'm running macOS Mojave 10.14.6.

Hope this will be solved soon :-)

[edit] the latest version – from late 2019 – worked fine.

Made a quick patch and it should work after you update. If there are any issues please try to reinstall first and see.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello srpwnd,

Thank you for your reply, and your quick TtA update.
I reinstalled the game from scratch (containing your fix I guess), got still the same issues (no icon + won't launch, same error message).

Feel free to let me know if you need more info or if I can help resolving this bug.

[edit] I precise that I'm using the downloaded .pkg, not the GoG Galaxy 2.0.

What version did you download and install from GOG? From my experience, it takes some time before GOG distributes it to everyone. The version should be 2.5.2 so if that is not the version you got please try to wait a bit longer.
