gamesfreak64: hi, i bought the game a little while ago, i am using the latest version 1.3.2
i started the game today and the normal idle temps of the GPU are shown in the attachment.
if i run the game full screen at highest graphical quality ingame settings the temp of the GPU can go up to 72 degrees celcius , plus the fans spin like crazy.
the cpu usage doesnt show any noticeable differences, and the casefan seems okay, its the GPU that sems to get a bashing while running the game.
so i tried the lowest settings, unfortunately the explosions/background lights effects and other effects cant be turned of in order to lower the strain on the GPU, that pencil animation also cant be turned off.
is there a way in a config file or so to turn all these things off to releave the stress on my GPU while playing the game? i mean the lighting, the background explosions, and all other environmental graphic effects, can these all be turned off? Or is there perhaps a 'hidden' developer way to turn these off?

squid830: Personally I just leave all the settings maxed out and run it anyway. If it gets too hot/noisy just quit the game for a while and give your GPU a chance to cool down somewhat.
I don't think changing the graphics settings will change anything, since there's no reason that this game should thrash any graphics card released within the last 10 years even at maxed out settings with high res. There's probably some dodgy code in there somewhere that's causing this.
I've had similar GPU thrashing happening with other games where one would think the GPU should be able to handle it without problems. Obviously some dodgy coding somewhere along the line, either by the devs themselves or by a third-party library they're using.
thanks for the reply
i agree, especially the part about dodgy code
example of dodgy code that effects my poor gts 250 1 GB GPU
unity games, like pillars and loads of others, all made with unity,
funny thing is most of these are coded very badly. coded with dodgy code like you said.
pillars is to high on my gpu, i have several retail casualgames also in unity created and these are all heating up the gpu.
Now comes the fun part:
Celestian Tales: Old North also unity product, but this game behaves normal, so this proves that the other devs who used unity and are 'bashing' my gpu, are bad coders, the bad thing is they patch gliches, weapons, fonts all that small stuff, but the main thing: performance is always forgotten.
So if Celestian Tales: Old North can have a normal unity game why cant the big pillar boys also have normal code?
they cant blame that on unity, the blame is at the devs.
Same goes for adobe air, some games bash the gpu, and other adobe air games behave normal, so again bad coding.
Ah well i guess all we can do is hope they 'wake up' and fix that dodgy code, or increase the minimum requirements, i know by experience (gaming for years now) that most of the min. req. are to low. ,my quad core can handle it well its the GTS 250 , but according to many min. requirements even cards much lower then my GTS 250 should be able to handle it.
So the devs, the ones who create the game should be more carefull when they say what minimum requirements a game needs, they often fail at the GPU part :D
