Adventure1: Hi,

I am really bad at technology - being born in the 80's - and I simply cannot figure out how to patch my game, which is the 1296,849 build. I don't know how to re-download the game or use GOG Galaxy. I bought the game here on GOG, also.

Can somebody tell me, step-by-step, how to update/patch my game? All over-technical language will be lost on me. I've read the other questions and responses on the forum, but I still can't figure this out. Please help!

Drahbor: How did you download it in the first place?

The easiest method to download games from GOG and keeping them up to date for the non tech-savy is GOG Galaxy.
1. You download Galaxy here
2. Install Galaxy anywhere after downloading it and start it from the desktop shortcut or the start menu.
3. Log in to galaxy with your GOG credentials. (Galaxy should prompt for login, if not, it should be in the Menu Dropdown you get when clicking on the logo in the upper left)
4. Select Library from the top bar (next to store)
5. Select the game you want to install (or update in your case)
6. Select the blue "install" button on the game's page.
7. [optional] Select a language (if available) or an install path (you can leave the default, it's just fine)
8. Make sure that Disable Auto-updating is not checked
9. Select Continue und wait for the game to be installed.
10. All games installed this way will automatically update.
Hey, Drahbor -

THANK YOU!! This completely fixed my problem! Anybody else who is having the same problem, just follow these steps. Thanks again! This game is a new classic, by the way
I'm trying to install the game on a Mac, but I'm still having the same problem with the bug, as in I get a successful installation message, but then the game is no where to be found. is there an official GOG reply for this? I've opened a ticket a few days ago, but no reply.

On my Mac, the installer prompted me to select a folder in which to install. I selected the "Applications" folder. After installation, the game appeared in that folder.
Hi.

This is not a "serious bug" but I just thought I mention it anyway:

** POSIBLE SPOILERS **

(forgive me for not remembering the names. I haven't played the game since finished it a while ago)
In the hotel when you go to the top with the ghost and you have the elevator there if you switch to a character in the lobby and press the elevator then switch back to the ghost and zap the button while the elevator is going down it will start going up making a double ding instead of one. In some cases the elevator will show up like if it had gone up and opened the doors but actually it will be in the lobby.

This can be fixed by just pushing the button again. As mentioned before it's not serious.
Seeing a post for the German translation, I have also a comment for the French one.

The translation for "Look at" should rather be "Regarder" (as it was in the old Lucasarts games) instead of "Voir".

"Voir" rather means "See".
Hi Jenn,

Although the following does not technically constitute a bug, you might still find it worth considering. It is really nice that the talking to the other player characters feature was finally implemented. However, if you point the cursor at any of them, it only says 'walk to' while now 'talk to' would be far more appropriate (cf. the old LucasArts classics).

By the way, upon first trying out the new build (919), I did actually come across a (little ;-)) bug - in the screen with the town sign, right at the beginning, a speck of dust was at about the height of the verb line - I tried out both interfaces, old and new, and in both cases both Ray and Reyes said that they could not reach it. (Sorry, silly me forgot to save, which means that I am unable to provide you with the according file to check).

Anyway, as I said, a lovely job and it is nice to see that you lot are still making such an effort to improve your little baby even further :-).

Cheers
Patrick
Hi Jenn,

Although it is lovely to see what an amazing effort you lot have been making in terms addressing suggestions and complaints as well as adding features, there is one thing where I would be very grateful indeed if it were to be implemented as well.

I find it a bit odd that if you point the cursor at non-playable characters like e.g. the sheriff the default action for right-clicking is talk to. However, if you do the same with playable characters, like Ray or Ransome the default action still is go / walk to and not talk to.

Now that you have added the feature of it being possible to talk to playable characters as well, It would be nice if this slight inconsistency could rectified in any of the future patches / updates.

Cheers
Patrick
