updated the TG build - Return to Cathedral had that invisible button problem, that's definitely something that should be fixed. can't believe no one noticed 'til now (myself icluded).
seeing that GOG has updated System Shock2 and Thief2 to the latest version of NewDark (and forgot to import the config tweaks from the previous GOG releases), I'm quickly posting an updated Thief Gold package, as TG is very finicky under NewDark and will not work properly unless a few very specific fixes are applied. I would strongly suggest using it - an attempt to update TG with the publicly available NewDark 1.23 files WILL BREAK THINGS. you need to have an intimate knowledge of TG gamesys and missions to be able to avoid this. correction, you don't - I'll provide the fixes happily.

so would you kindly: Thief Gold 1.23 (extract to a GOG install of TG, overwrite)

in the meantime, here are the lite patches, as always, will fit both GOG and steam installs. GOG is free to incorporate them into their builds as they see fit.

Thief2 update 1.24
TG update 1.24

as always, the TG update has all the fixes from the previous builds (essentially TFix lite), the T2 update just has FSAA, new mantle and buffer limit enabled, and makes sure the cutscenes are cropped appropriately. no need to use these updates if you have the latest TFix and TafferPatcher.

there have been some dml additions in NewDark 1.24, so lets put them to use - TG GOG dml update May12 2016

-fixed position on a few really badly placed objects
-it's now not possible to bug out impassable (decorative) doors in the Training and Assassins missions
-alarmlights in Cragscleft, Assassins and Undercover now work properly (red light when triggered)
-Constantine was not using all of his attacks in the last level because of incorrect link settings, this is now fixed

as always, GOG is free to use this update.

those using the latest TFix do not need this - use only and ONLY if you are using the latest GOG build, unmodified. it is safe to update mid game, but the fixes will only kick in if you restart the current mission/start the next one.

Just installed TG via Galaxy. Playing with a Radeon 3000 integrated card for now so am going lite. Will probably try TFix should I replay the game.

Just wondering if the updates in the last two posts have been integrated yet into the GOG package, as its been about 4 months.

Assuming it hasn't been yet, am I right that all I need are the two patches in the above two posts, or am I missing anything else?
the dml update from May12 has not been integrated into the GOG build yet.

just go for full TFix if you want more stuff.

Thanks for the quick reply and all the work making it easier for us newcomers to the game. Yeah, I'll probably marinate in the original look for a bit and then upgrade to TFix sometime mid game actually. This lets me get an appreciation for the before/after difference. I think I read yesterday that you can have multiple installations so I'll probably go that route. This video card is normally fine with old games but sometimes one little visual effect doesn't work that ruins the game and I'm not entirely sure of how it will handle any visual upgrades. I'm looking forward to upgrading the card to say the least.
any computer that is less than 15 years old can run a TFixed install of TG. the (integrated) visual mods mostly just bring TG graphics to T2 level, plus there are extra skies and water, and higher res objects (nothing is hd by today's standards, nor it is meant to be). and interactive candles.

also a ton of extra bugfixes - the GOG build has only critical fixes.

burkjon: Are GOG not integrating the lite patches anymore? I saw 1.25 was recently put out.
I'll make the GOG tweaked packages available soon (end of the week, most likely), as always.

ready;

ThiefGold update 1.25
Thief2 update 1.25

T2 is just NewDark 1.25 with FSAA on and proper scaling for movies, TG has all the fixes from previous GOG builds including the last dml update available in this topic;

-fixed position on a few really badly placed objects
-it's now not possible to bug out impassable (decorative) doors in the Training and Assassins missions
-alarmlights in Cragscleft, Assassins and Undercover now work properly (red light when triggered)
-Constantine was not using all of his attacks in the last level because of incorrect link settings, this is now fixed

as always, GOG is free to integrate the updates into their builds as they see fit.

//almost forgot - if you want to update a TFixed/TafferPatched install, use just the exe, nothing else.

We've just updated Thief 1 and 2 with version 1.25 New Dark :) Please either update the game(s) via Galaxy, if you are not using mods, or download the updated installer(s) :)
I have been notified that not all the original files in the current GOG build are up to date, and after a bit of digging, I could confirm - some files indeed are from the 1.07 version of T2 (first release build of the game), and a few are missing completely. so yeah, lets fix this and throw in some extra tweaks as well just for good measure;

T2_GOG_08jan2018_update (extract to your GOG 1.25 T2 folder, overwrite. will reset any cam_ext.cfg tweaks)

-squirrel script now in the root, as people apparently want to run FMs without using TafferPatcher
-updated all original scripts and other files to their latest (1.18) version
-readded a few missing original (1.18) files
-enabled smooth texture edges on all bloodsplats and small plants
-enabled smooth texture edges on all large plants and backgrounds (by enabling ATOC, so requires vista+ and a DX10+ gpu to have any effect)

just to make things clear, the problem with the outdated files isn't anybody's fault - basically, at some point for reasons unknown, someone made a so called "Premier" 1.18 patch, which is just the 1.18 patch with version checks removed, and some files missing. but as it seems newer than the proper, full 1.18 patch at first glance, way too many T2 re-releases ended up being patched by it, and the GOG build is not an exception (same goes for steam).

and a few fixes to TG as well;

TG_GOG_11jan2018_update (extract to your GOG 1.25 TG folder, overwrite. will reset any cam_ext.cfg tweaks)

-squirrel script now in the root, as people may want to run FMs without using TFix
-enabled smooth texture edges (by enabling ATOC, so requires vista+ and a DX10+ gpu to have any effect)
-a few fixes to some misbehaved objects in a couple of missions

voodoo47 do you know if the above is still necessary and/or if the GOG install been updated? Also if you don't mind I'd like your opinion on the Sound Effects Enhancement Pack. I saw over on TTLG you included it in mods people might install with Tfix, and I understand you prefer Necro Age as a texture mod so I was just wondering if you personally would also install the sound effects mod. Oh and have newer versions of Tfix implemented EP2. Cheers and thanks in advance.
