well then, it's been a while. a very, very long while. and a silent voice has whispered to my ear that the TG GOG build could use some sprucing up - so here we go;

TG_GOG_NewDark_1.27_19jul2026 update

will be submitted to GOG some time later this week (lets hope the guy who was handling the updates hasn't reached retirement age yet), feel free to test it in the meantime.

-will only fit the GOG build
-updated to 1.27
-handful of object problems fixed
-font issues when writing on the map fixed
-objective completion ding sound now plays
-on par with the latest TFix lite

a very important note - before extracting the archive into your GOG TG folder, MANUALLY DELETE gamesys.dml, squirrel.osm, and script-t1.osm (folder structure has changed slightly and they are now going to be located elsewhere).

!!!WARNING for users of NewDarkLoader for fan missions, and other custom graphic mods!!!

This latest update from GoG fucked everything up for me, and resulted in a broken install too.
no idea where some files for Darkloader went, if they weren't completely deleted, if someone knows about that it could be helpful.

Good thing I had a backup of the game folder that wasn't too old...
I did not realize I had auto-updates on, I sure corrected that now.

But, really, why change the folder structure that much ?
Why controller support ?
Who plays Thief with a controller ???????

Does the controller support really work with the Dualsense? It seems from the mods GitHub page that it uses XInput rather than dinput used by the Dualsense (also, the README lists Dualsense support only through DS4Windows). The store page changelog does not mention any additional tools required for Dualsense to work inside the game, so I'm a bit confused
watch out, you are actually talking about the current build, and not about the file linked above your post. anyway, reinstalling the loader should make it work again (this is pretty much inevitable when there is a big update that kills 3rdparty files).

I'm trying to get in touch with GOG staff to get the situation sorted out.

Well done, brother - your hard work is much appreciated!
voodoo, I'm not sure what your first sentence is refering to.

Yes reinstalling Darkloader works, but all ratings and comments on fan missions are lost.
I'm still trying to work out what I can salvage from the broken updated install.
From what I can tell all original thief gold files were simply moved to a new folder, maybe nothing else was deleted.

It's good to have the original Thief as an option, but it could really just be a separate download.
Updates shouldn't remove any files in a folder.
For example just checking tfix is the latest version wouldn't have broken anything, I think.
It could be useful, not just for Thief, if updates that change file structure came with a warning, and not automatically.

It's not too bad since I had a backup, but it's not a pleasant experience from gog.
I really don't think controllers are ideal for thief, but to each their own, my bad.
GOG is actually not using the zip I posted, that's what I meant.

yeah, this is a price you pay if you let steam or galaxy manage your install - everything works great if you don't plan to modify it manually, but if you do, the moment they decide to do some update or cleanup, your files will be wiped, most likely. this is by design, and the very reason why we usually recommend moving/copying the install out of the steam/galaxy environment if one wants to add some extras.
