So I finished Thief II last night, and got treated to the ending cutscene (can be described here: http://thief.wikia.com/wiki/T2_CS16).

And THAT was it? Pretty disappointing for an ending cutscene, don't you think? It ended rather abruptly and threw me back to the menu screen. No majestic rock music like the ending cutscene in Thief Gold. A bit too short too.

Anybody else is also disappointed with it like me?
no, not really. guess it's time to go T2X for you?
I loved the endings of all three Thief games, but I think the ending of the second game was my favorite. Remember that it's not the end of the story. It leads into Thief 3 quite nicely.

I suppose it might have been better if it cut to the credits with some suitably cool music rather than just dumping back to the menu. But I still love the cutscene itself.

Which brings me to the question, how to apply widescreen patch on that fan-made expansion pack? I actually downloaded it long before I finished Thief II, and was just about to start it last night, but all I have is the 800*600 resolution in the option screen.

This I agree. After the ending music beat of Thief Gold, I feel this one in Thief II is rather weak, at least audio-wise.

Maybe I'll explain more:
(*). After I finished playing Thief II (with Tafferpatcher), I uninstalled the game.
(*). I reinstalled the game again, so it is a vanilla Thief II without Tafferpatcher.
(*). I installed T2X.
(*). I copied the ddfix.ini from Thief II folder to T2X folder.
(*). I ran the game, and it was fine, I could play it with no problems, and yet I only have 800*600 resolution option.

If I understand correctly, Tafferpatcher is not compatible with T2X, hence I am not using them together. So how can I apply widescreen with T2X?
copy over ddfix.ini and ddfix.dll from your T2 install, edit the resolution in T2X cam.cfg, and you should be good.
Thanks. I actually found out yesterday that Tafferpatcher works with T2X. I was under the impression that it didn't because I read about it somewhere in the TTLG forum. But it works for me. So, using Tafferpatcher I was able to select a 1280*800*16 resolution to be used in T2X. I did not have time to start playing properly though. I will probably start in a day or two.
For me 2 had the best ending. Cant wait for 4.

seriously, you should use patch1.19/NewDark. the current version of Tafferpatcher only has ddfix.

Link, please?
I am playing Deus Ex now. Maybe someday if I am to revisit Thief 2 again, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Should be a link in the sticky thread. The thread says it's for Thief 1 but the new fix works for both 1 and 2 (or rather it was originally made for 2 and then was adapted to work for 1 as well).

Thanks again guys.
So all I have to do is just download and install the add-on?

Is it kind of an unofficially official lead-in into Thief 3?

Edit: I started it. My biggest gripe is that the screen flickers for a few seconds whenever I switch from engine to menu/reading/map/objective screens. I did the ddfix thing, yet it has not fixed this glitch.

-install T2
-use Tafferpatcher: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106 (allow it to create the shortcut for launching FMs)
-run the shortcut, this will prompt the FMs folder creation, allow it
-install T2X
-move the T2X into the FMs folder
-run the shortcut again
-double click on T2X to play
