Okay; so I've trawled through the forums, installed patches, ran in administrator mode and compatibility mode both and I can't get the game to start.

As soon as I launch the game, my screen goes black, there is no audio, my mouse is not visible and I can't alt+tab or open task manager out of it. It's driving me to the edge of distraction as I love this game so much! please help me </3

When you say you installed patches, does that include the unofficial Tfix patch? That should take care of the issues Thief has running on modern systems.
Since you've installed patches, you should disable the compatibility settings (except maybe the "run as administrator" one, depending on where you installed the game).

Hi, yes I did Install the TFix patches, to no effect, and it didn't fix it. :(

Hi there; I tried this and it still didn't start, my PC just goes to a black screen and then stays there, no sound or images. I even waited a good ten minutes in case it was loading or something.

Hi there and thank you for the quick reply, I did as you suggested, but there has sadly been no change from when I started. I'm really frustrated as this seems to be a running theme across all the Thief Games on my PC :(

I've just thought to give some additional information regarding my PC: here it is

AM FX-8350 8 core 4.00GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Windows 10 Pro Operating system 64-bit
32GB DDR3 RAM
2.3 TB of HDD storage space, with over 1TB free.

Also; I have RivaTuner and MSI Afterburner installed to moderate my GPU/Overclock my speeds/Limit frames on specific games. Thief series has NOT been limited on FPS.

Hi everyone,

Thought I would give an update:
The Issue was Comodo Dragon Antivirus; some of their processes and files run in the background even after turning it off, and you need to contact Comodo Support if you own this game, they will show you how to fix it <3

Thank you to everyone who replied!

I had this exact symptom.

I determined that Thief 3 will not run from an 8 TB drive. I removed it and installed on a 1/2 TB drive, and it works just fine. This is not the first game I have found with this problem ... the smaller drive is an SSD, btw; the large one obviously is not.
