Does anybody know if the AI is OK in this version? The GOG version is patched with it, but last time I played with Newdark (some time ago), the game was unplayable due to changes in AI. They overreacted. Also the game crashed as hell.

I used TFix 1.15 which just added higher resolution, better compatibility, etc., but the AI was like in vanilla.
So is the GOG version broken? I can try to get TFix onto in, but I don't know if it will work without crashes.

I just wanted information from somebody who knows about those things. At least somebody who finished Thief on this version. Is AI normal or broken? The worse actually comes after a couple of mission so I cannot really see it at the beginning of the game.

I edited the post to add that perhaps I was wrong and I used newer TFix version, and that might be the problem, not the Newdark itself. don't know if GOG uses just Newdark or also TFix which incorporates it.

the full reply is: the current GOG build and TFix both use the latest version of NewDark, that means the AIs will use Thief2 routines, this cannot be changed by definition. earlier GOG builds and TFix versions had a problem with AIs being able to hear the player knocking out other AIs, and the fire elementals having no limiter on their rate of fire. these issues have been fixed in both the GOG build and TFix a long time ago (GOG build uses a lite version of TFix, incorporating only the critical fixes).

crashing could be caused by anything, if it does happen, post here and provide your thief.log and crash.dmp (zip them up, upload somewhere, link it).

OK. Thanks for the answer. Like I sad I played it some time ago. I think it was 2013 - so it was fairly long time ago. I don't know if Thief 2 AI suits Thief Gold maps, but if it has no extra bonuses and if there are no crashes these days I will try to play and finish the game, and after that post results about it.
