I played Thief II first and loved it, just picked up Thief Gold on sale. I'm noticing differences, mostly in game physics and mechanics that prove Thief II is the vastly superior game, the most annoying of which is my inability to get onto a ladder or rope without falling. Garret will be standing right next to the top of a ladder, but it's a damn near impossible situation to get him to grab onto it and climb down. He always falls, and I have to reload and retry over and over and over. The problem with ropes is just as annoying. He won't jump up and grab them, he just jumps into them and bounces back. These abhorrent bugs are a game killer for me. Is there a patch to fix them so the physics work, preferably one that won't kill my save games like running in admin mode so I can see the cutscenes did?

The patch included in this pack will basically make Thief Gold run on the Thief 2 engine, including all tweaks to controls.

After installation, I would recommend copying user.bnd from your Thief 2 directory to your Thief Gold directory, this will ensure you have identical controls between both games.

Thanks for the advice, but the patch kind of made the game not run at all anymore. It says (incomprehensible series of letters and numbers).dll missing. Guess I need to do some research, find out what I'm doing wrong. Damn it. This is the third GOG game I've had to jump through hoops for. Grr...
