amok: Tafferpatcher: unofficial complete patch for Thief 2

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106
Anybody tried it with the GOG version? I'm expecting it to work, but I can't test it right now.

And I would suggest stickying that also, as it doesn't really fit into the other sticky.
seems like the gog release of t2 has an older version of ddfix installed, but this shouldn't be an issue, as it will just get overwritten by the one included in tafferpatcher.
so, does the GoG edition of T2 actually work decently without additional fan patches?
The patch appears to be working fine for me with the GOG release.
hmmm.. ddfix 1.3.11 is quite old, but if i remember correctly, it has worked pretty well for thief2 - but I'm not sure whether it supported fog.

one way or another, I would recommend installing the latest release - or tafferpatcher, whichever is easier for you.

Just downloaded it and fired it up. Everything works out of the box. And boy, that feeling .....

tafferpatcher is probably a good idea regardless.
it is, it fixes quite a number of bugs in the missions, if nothing else.

Yep it works absolutely fine and I recommend it highly for the level bug fixes. The graphical tweaks are entirely optional and you don't have to use them if you don't want.

Installing it for the newer version of DDFix is also a very good idea.
I installed the patch and now I can't start Thief 2 properly. When I trie to run thief2.exe it always askes for the CD, thief2_no_ddfix on the other hand runs just fine, but then I have no videos. Maybe I can fix this with the premier patch...

Exactly which installation options did you pick when you installed Tafferpatcher?
I costumized it. Seems like that was a mistake. Which one should I pick in your opinion?

Edit:
I reinstalled Thief 2 and the Tafferpatch. This time I chose the resource and mission patches and nothing else and it still asks for the CD.

Well I picked all of them, because I was interested in the graphics patches and level bug fixes. The only patch in Tafferpatcher that should affect your thief2.exe is DDFix. You should install DDFix 1.5.11.

Try running Tafferpatcher again. If it still asks for a CD, uninstall and reinstall Thief 2, then run Tafferpatcher. Make sure you pick DDFix 1.5.11.
I picked DDfix 1.5.11 and it still asks for the frickin CD. Strange...

Ok well I have another trick up my sleeve here.

here is my thief2.exe. It may or may not stop it asking for a CD, I'm not sure. I know it doesn't ask me.

It might be illegal for me to post this, but you own the game and there's nothing one can do with thief2.exe on its own, right? So I'll leave this link intact unless a blue man comes along and tells me it's not OK.

Just replace your thief2.exe and hope it works.
