Um...I can't find any link to the archive. I've clicked on the link in the sticky, but there is only a command to download and it only downloads tgfix 1.08, no readme or installer.
how about opening the (7zip) archive?
Thank you. I didn't realize .7z was an archive file format. I've now downloaded the 7zip utility and the game is running perfectly.
Hey, I finally played the game with ddfix and it looks incredible. There wouldn't be a similar fix that worked on Thief 2, would there? (I haven't yet tried Thief 2 on my new computer.)

Thank you.
Here is an update on my previous predicament.

Having almost given up on the movies after several fix attempts, I had the notion to try running the game as admin again.
This time, for whatever reason it worked, it didn't break my the game like it did last time.

So now my only minor grumblins are, the UACA prompt that pops up when I play the game, asking if I want to allow it to make changes to my PC. Only way I know to fix that is disabling UAC, which I'd prefer not to do.

And.. the cutsecnes have a.. pixelation to them.
I dunno if it's because of my resolution (I edited my res to 1920x1080) or if they were always like that.
The most noticeable thing is in shadow or the black spots in the cutscene, have light pink dots.. think like the colour in a comic book if you were to look really closely at it, except it appears quite noticeable on my screen (although not in the screenshot I took, unless I zoomed in really close).
Anyway to improve that. Or is that just the way it is and I am unused to watching such old game videos.

That could very well be your resolution... I think the original cutscenes were a fixed resolution so if you have scaled the game up to a high resolution than the cutscenes will look much lower-res, since they're still playing at the original resolution. Plus they're scaled up to fill your screen, so the cutscenes are effectively running at a non-native resolution, which can look weird (basically, your screen has 1920 x 1080 pixels and those pixels are being used to approximate something of much lower resolution).

The pink dots sound like some kind of glitch, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Anyone else have ideas?
the cutscenes are a can of worms. you are lucky that you can actually see them, many users are unable to get it working no matter what. I don't remember any pink dots though - try making a screenshot with fraps. as for the quality, nothing can be done unless you reprocess the cutscene in some video processing tool (virtualdub or similar).
Well, I tried to download TGfix but it doesn't seem to be there as I'm just redirected to Google Drive.

I'd be grateful if it's reuploaded, as no one else has done a package for the original Thief like this.

*edit*

The mirror here does still work for people really wanting to download it = http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733

yeah, google drive does not seem to work for some people. added the mirror to the first post (wanted to that earlier, but forgot).
If you are going over to Through the Looking Glass forum and using their Filefront links. Please stop doing so. As the filefront site is not reliable in that they allow viral advertising (malware).

It should be assumed not safe to use filefront. Use a mirror instead.

If anyone reading this feels compelled to state it may be false positives. Then you can ignorantly brick your machine at your leisure and ignore my comments trying to help you.

1.09 is up. some tiny texture fixes as usual, but that's not all - I'm happy to announce that a bunch of capable taffers from TTLG (Stan_The_Thief, antimatter_16 and others) have started to work on the missions, fixing everything that is broken in some way (object and texture placement, missing dialogues, incorrect sounds etc). the first two fixed missions (training and Bafford's) are included in TFix1.09 (they are installed automatically). I will update TFix again as soon as I receive new ones.

I patched Thief Gold with this, there´s any other graphic improvement for THIEF2?
all available enhancements should be included in Tafferpatcher: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106
