As far as I know, the soundtrack that comes with this GOG release is the fan made one, because Thief never had an official soundtrack. Don't get me wrong, I love to see it here along with the game, yet since GOG sells this for money, how is this for the guys who did the unnoficial ost?

I was reading the TTLG forums and it does look like this is the fan made one you are mentioning. The author of that one commented: "no, GOG never asked for permission to use my soundtrack. I don't care for a royalty for stitching together what has already been there, but a side note from them to honor my work would have been nice."
Gog have included data/IP that does not belong to them or Eidos. Namley a song created by ttlg.com forum member 'Child of Karras"

Basically: there was never an official soundtrack for Thief. As the music in the game is somewhat dynamic, made from separate sound loops and snippets, it was also impossible to extract full tracks from the game.

Child of Karras did some hard and impressive work arranging the various sounds from the game into a workable soundtrack, and deserves recognition for it.

Not cool there, GOG/Square Enix.

There seems to be a big misunderstanding here. We didn't do this on purpose ("Child of Karras" is credited in the OST) but there was a communication gap that I am trying to fix now.

I apologize for this.
Good to see this addressed.
