Need clarification about TFix and Tafferpatcher - are they compatible with new installers?

ok, let me try to answer everything in one post;

-the latest NewDark readme makes it very quite clear that anyone can use the files for any purpose.

-the patchers should work fine for the GOG versions of the games

-both games should be updated to the latest (1.21) version.

-old saves should work, but you will probably have to restart the current mission.

-the blue sky thing usually happens when you enable the hires sky without actually having the hires sky installed.


I'm downloading the new installers and will check the compatibility with patchers, back in a minute.

Just to clarify here - after installing this latest version (for Thief 2) what other patches or mods would still be worthwhile? I'm assuming this renders some of the patches in the patch thread obsolete, yes?

Any? All?

I would recommend Tafferpatcher, it has user-made graphical updates, a built in fan mission selector and some patches that fixes bugs that I noticed are still in the default GOG version.

the aim of the latest GOG patches is to make the games play better out of the box for all those who do not want to install any fan fixes or mods. if you want level fixes and enhancements, your will have to get TafferPatcher and TFix.

So TFix isn't in the new Thief Gold release here?

no, just newdark and a bunch of fixes that make sure all the critical issues are fixed. you can call it TFix lite if you really want.

also, one thing I've forgot to mention - if you are using a previous GOG build of the game patched up with latest TFix, you don't need to (re)install the latest GOG build.

I need help with mod paths. What should I have as resname path in install.cfg and modpath in cam_mod.ini. It doesn't seem to want to work.

I've the enhancements from TFix 1.16 except Orgy so Tin's texture can work.

TFix 1.16 adds the USERMODS folder, just drop the files from Tin's mod there and they should be loaded on top of everything from TFix.

Thanks, GOG I've been waiting for these games to be patched. it's good to see these old games get some new love.
