I'm having lots of bug issues with Thief 3 on my Win 10 laptop. The Voodoo site desribed in another thread here can't be reached now, and previously showed up as a threat by Avast, so that's not an option.

The game is laggy and unplayable. I can't jump or mantle, I get stuck everywhere, and frobbale items don't show up as such half the time. I also have a bug climbing ladders (as in, most of the time I can't) and I have the floating bug.

Is there hope, or is this game destined for the figurative dustbin?

Avast is paranoid junk.

You may need the Sneaky Upgrade: https://www.moddb.com/mods/thief-3-sneaky-upgrade/downloads
THanks. I'll give that a shot. I do like this game when it's working well.
So, no dice. My Avast won't let the file though and I have no idea how to set permission for the file to download. Giving up now. The game is almost unplayable, as many times the lockpick function simply doesn't work.

By the way, the Voodoo file noted in another thread seems to be infected with a threat called "Blacklist" now.

Again, Avast is paranoid as hell. dgVoodoo 2 is used by gamers worldwide, and this is what the tool's author had to say on the issue (that is not new).

If there's anything you need to avoid installing on your PC, it's bad antivirus programs.

This is the first tie I've had such a problem with Avast. It seems far better than the usual Mcaffee/Norton bloat.

Still, maybe I can somehow add it to the exceptions.

Cheers.
Are you sure it is Avast that is blocking you? The Avast version used by virustotal.com does not detect anything in the latest full version of the Sneaky Upgrade (see at

In any case, I have used many (10+) security suites in both personal and enterprise settings over the past 25 years. Guess what I am using right now in my Win10 rig? Windows Defender, Comodo Firewall (free), and a conscientious attitude.
