Twice now I've encountered a very annoying bug which involves doors disappearing from rooms, making them unusable because staff members or patients get stuck in the door frame. If I try to rebuild the room, I just get the blueprint and Zzzz text you usually get when someone is standing where you're building, but it just stays like that ad infinitum, so it doesn't work.

Both both times happened at GP's office.

Is there a way workaround for this problem?

Happened to me as well in one game. I've had other instances of bugs related to staff getting stuck in rooms, but they were usually fixable by grabbing the staff member.

Regarding this bug, I don't think there's anything else you can do besides loading a savegame. I suspect the bug might pop up when you've placed items in a room in a certain way, so you might wanna try reconfiguring the interior.
I read somewhere else it might have to do with sending patients to Research.

It's really annoying, because it's a game-breaker to me: When two of three GP's offices are botched like that I cannot replace them and building them on the other side of the hospital is not an option.
I personally haven´t seen this bug, but on the last level of the game, my 4 researches dissappeared without any advice. I was playing the game as usual, and I know they didn´t cry for a salary raise, yet they ALL dissappeared (they worked on the same room). It was the only room I made in the entire game with so many researchers, so maybe it was something like this: A combination of the room+personal+patients involved in the room...
Happened to me twice and by loading saved games I worked out it is definitely caused by sending folk to the research department. Only happened to me with the wavy ones who need the jelly vat in late game? So don't send to research, or simply always quicksave before clicking on ? tab and then check to see if GP doors still there after sending patient to research.

I remember this bug being in the original game release. I thought the 1.01 patch solved it though --but never went through the game with the patch applied for too long since Internet was not very common then.
I've also encountered this problem and agree it seems related to the GPs office and sending patients to research.
The only way around it is to re-load before the bug appears as you can't edit the room once its occurred!

GOG I really hope you could look into a patch for this as it's now happened to me many times (although generally only once per hospital). Thanks!
I'm having the same problem - doors disappearing, and staff & patients get stuck in the doorway. I try to 'pick up' the staff members to move them elsewhere, but they quickly go back to the same troublesome spot and get trapped again.

By the last level, I have so many botched\unusuable rooms, with so many staff members trapped there, so they can't go where they're needed - which results in a lot of GP rooms being empty, patients unhappy, being sick everywhere, causing epidemics. The petients are being sick faster than the janitors can clean up after them. And any new staff I hire just get trapped in the same places the old staff do.

The becomes unwinnable!

After reading this thread, it seems the problem starts when you send patients to research. But you can't avoid using research rooms forever - you NEED them to research how to cure diseases, and improve your drugs.

Really hope GOG figures out a solution to this. It's not fun playing an unwinnable game.
Happened to me too on a GP office and nothing worked to fix. Unfortunately my savegame is lost now, as i did not notice this when i saved and now i got an infinite queue and one doc always trying to enter this room :(

I found this a link via google (cannot post) where it says
"The only way I know to fix it is to just send the patient home. If memory serves, I think this only happened when I sent someone with hairyitis to the research department, but don't quote me on that."
but could not try the solution as i do not know which patient to sent home. And i am in level 10 with a lot of patients in the hospital so firing all would be a hard time. I think i just start over again, unfortunately this was my best try so far :((

#edit: verified: I had the prob again, encountered the Hairitys guy just ordered to Research in an GP-Office, stucked person message appeared, and door was gone. Sent him home and door reappeared. Happened 3 more times, then i noticed it happens when he stood up, so i replaced the chair and afterwards it worked. Still, i now try to find the guy before sending to research and check if he is outside the GP.

Redeagle55: Still, i now try to find the guy before sending to research and check if he is outside the GP.
Well said Redeagle55.

I think this is the solution to the problem of disappearing doors and patients geting stuck into GP's offices.

These two problems happen when a patient is in a GP's office, a fax with a ? pops up asking you what to do, and you decide to send the patient to research.

THE PROBLEM IS that if you click the ? fax TOO fast (that is before the patient exits the GP's office) you either get the patient stuck in the office, or the doors disappears (which is worse because the office is useless afterwards). This problem can happen a lot, especially if you have lowered the speed of the game.
(The only thing you can do after this, is to order the patient to go home but that is bad for your reputation and also doesn't work every time. If the door disappears, just reload, there is no remedy)

So my SOLUTION is to wait until the patient exits the GP's office and closes the door, and THEN click the fax with the ? to decide what to do with the patient (usually send him to research).

If you have many rooms and a lot a people running around look for the patient with a ? above his head (his status will be ''awaiting your decision'' in the lower right box). When he is finally out of the Gp's office, then click the ? fax.

I have been following this rule for the last 4 stages and not a single door disappeared. Also no patient got stuck in the office. (except when I forget this problem and just click at everything as fast as I can)

Also remember that keys 1,2,3,4,5 control the speed of the game from slowest to fastest. It is usefull to lower the speed when looking for the patient with the ? above his head.
Thanks for the advice. I might play again soon and test it.

I've just found an interesting solution for this annoying bug:
When door disappears, click on a patient, keep the patient's window open, then click on the edit room button [?] and - voilà! - you can now edit/delete the room.
Good luck!

Hello there all, i found a solution for GP office's dissapearing doors bug;

First dont put any plants on GP's office. Because when the door dissapears handymans are trying to get inside for watering plants. So if you dont have any plants in it they wont try to get inside.

Second when the doors dissapears click on a patient who is watiing for that dissapear door GP office. Then from the patients small window click on which door is he/she is waiting for. It is the door that dissapears. Then make the queue number of the door "0".

So when you do this two things the room will still be unusuable but no patient or handyman or doctor will try to get in there. And you can continue the game with this.
Never have that problem before. Now have it with invisible guy on 1st level on PlayStation(!) emulator. It exactly version what im play long ago as a kid. it never happened. Now when i decide to "heal anyway" patient bugged. He can go, but very slowly (фтв stop after each step for some time). To make him go back to normal i send him home. Then he GO OUT GP room, almost go AWAY FROM THE MAP - but RETURN to Reception desk queue (still have EXIT symbol and cannot be send home again). And more over - when i manually switch him anywhere - he try to go to GP, quickly switch to INFLATION room and on half-way go back to Reception desk queue (never go) And others IGNORE HIM(!!!) in queue - he not stuck anyone!

I think it all about emulation(*). PS or DOS - not matter. Anyway, im prefer native Windows version (winmain.exe) that work perfectly on Windows 7 x64 (only patch must be installed on Win x32 or on x64 Vista) - without any bugs. Ofc some elementary tweaks required like disable themes and adminrun.

* For PS version i use psxe (psxfin 1.13) with PAL DTLH (no DRM dev build) bios but SLUS disc. Maybe that a reason, maybe emulator glitch - with some games emulation must be restarted after loading to avoid further bugs.

Now stuck invisible patient after "heal anyway" happened for me multiple times even on native Windows version (absolute same way as on PlayStation). Maybe something in GP design can resolve this... Now i can repeat that with all that patient every start of new game (on first level).

Maybe placing chair next to room door not so good idea... But i didnt do that - next to door i place Plant or Trashbin. I experiment with that and try - as i always did before - place chiar next to doctor desktop on middle of the room.

Or, as alredy guided here, do not open fax screen until patient exit of GP office.
