I'm running Thea through GOG Galaxy and the game keeps crashing constantly. Playing on an enormous map in full screen mode, 2560x1440 resolution, high graphics detail and at around turn 100 or thereabouts.

I need to save nearly every turn, since whenever the game crashes, it loads the previous autosave even when there is a more recent manual save available, and you then need to load that.

Running Windows 10 Pro (Creators Update) and my graphics card is Nvidia GTX 1070 with the latest drivers. Machine has 16 GB RAM, so not an issue there either, since memory seems to max out to a bit over 2 GB before a crash.

Really bloody annoying. I have the crash report folders ready to go if they are of interest to anyone.

I did not have any of these problems a year ago.
I have Thea on Steam, and a short while ago (16 May) they pushed an updated version of the game engine using a newer build of Unity. It was primarily to reduce crash problems that a small number of users were having. It fixed the problem for most of them, but for an even smaller number of users, it made things worse.

See which version you're running, and if possible, change to a different version and see if that helps.

Thanks!

I have version 1.20.2412A, which is the newest version available on GOG. I'll see what setting my AV (F-Secure) to Gaming Mode will do, and I probably need to start looking at the Windows logs for what is causing the crashes.

Alright. That's not the most current version, so I don't know if updating would help or not - but I can't imagine it would hurt. You might want to get in touch with MuHa and ask them to update the GOG version; the current Steam version (as of today) is 1.20.2516.0
