The main strength of these games is being very honest with the stories and characters.

I'm currently working my way through the books. You should too.

Reading the books too.. These books are not like any fantasy novel. The world and characters are well defined and developed and the story is said through the chraracters.I really like the way of story telling in these books and there are absolutely no fantasy inside the story.
Those books are very good. I just finished the most recent one, Seasons of Storm, or something like that. Need to reinstall Witchers again.
Although the infinity engine games are at the pinnicle for me - mostly because of the mechanics and so on - I think CDProjekt really nailed it with W3 (haven't completed it yet). But yeah, 15 or so years ago when I was wondering where games would be, they're one of the few companies that have really appreciated what their games are, how to evolve them, and what most gamers want. I just didn't like W2 very much for a few reasons.

They've got great writer's as well, unlike other RPG companies.
