I imported my Iorveth playthrough. I'm level 24 and haven't seen him once yet. I'm at the part where I'm supposed to recruit allies to kaer morhen and Iorveth nor Saskia is on the list, however Roche is.

When I recruited Roche he said "You helped me when I needed it, so I'll help you in return.." However I'm not sure what hes referring to as I imported my Iorveth playthrough.

Is this a major issue with savegame importing or what? I'm not sure what's going on because it did seem to know that I had used Philippa Eilhart to lift the spell from Saskia (believe this path is where her eyes get burned out, which was in my witcher 3 playthrough).

Not a bug FYI, Iorveth doesn't exist in the game - not sure about Saskia.
Who knows if this will change or not with future DLC/the expansions.

It's not supposed to be "cannon" if I imported my iorveth playthrough though, which I did. Iorveth doesn't exist? For real? Wow this game was rushed....

That's the thing about something being canon, it's what the writers choose, not what you do.

First: The game wasn't rushed, they even delayed its release twice.
Second: Iorveth and Saskia should be in Vergen/Mahakam ruling their new country, right? That is in Aedirn. Aedirn isn't even in the map covered by The Witcher 3. Why should they appear in the game? That makes no sense. While Roche is still fighting for Temeria.

Why would you state that they decided to make Roche's path canon, when you have the option to simulate a savestate and give answers like "I decided to go with Iorveth"?

Because Roche exists in the game no matter what (even if you did not side with him), and Iorveth does not.
You can also confirm Iorveth is not in the game by looking up the game's voice actors - Roche's is back, Iorveth's is not.

Yes, he's not in the game. BUT that doesn't mean that he doesn't exist. And it doesn't mean that the devs decided to make Roche's path canon. Again, remember that one of the imported decisions from the Witcher 2 to this game is if you decided to go with Roche or Iorveth, and then there is the other one, if you decided to save Triss or lift Saskia's spell. They simply don't appear in the game because of logic. They are in Aedirn, you can't find them in Redania nor Temeria, and obviously not in Skelliga.
Iorveth's voice actor is in the game and voices metric fuckton of various NPCs, he got a way too characteristic voice to remain unrecognised. Same goes for Roche's actor (he even voices one of Roche's subordinates), Yen's, Keira's, and even Triss', though latter, apparently, is used least due to nature of her voice, I think I heard her only once. Thankfully Geralt is unique.
I think you're grasping for straws in regards to CDPR's incompetence.

Saskia and Iorveth should be in the game. Especially after Nilfgaard sacked everything in its path up to the area you play the witcher 3 in. Pretty sure they sacked the pontar valley.

Also why would saskia or iorveth be ruling there anyway? Saskia didn't want to rule anything, she was under a spell remember? Iorveth just wanted a place for his people to settle in peace, and if nilfgaard coming through there that kind of defeats that purpose. Going head to head with nilfgaard would be suicide, iorveth isn't that stupid.

This just seems like incompetence and a lack of effort on cdpr to be honest. We were supposed to be able to import our decisions into the witcher 3 but it seems like ALL of the important decisions are ignored entirely if you choose the iorveth playthrough.

It's just disappointing. Roche even acts like you helped in your iorveth savegame import, there's no excuse for that other than lazy incompetence. It's completely out of character given the choices made in iorveths playthrough. Lazy as hell.

I think you need to look at a map. There is no way that either of them would be in the areas covered by W3. Neither of them have any connection to this area. It makes zero sence lore wise or even territory wise for them to be here. But don't let logic interfere.

1. Incompetence? Really? I love when people start complaining like this for no reason at all.
2. I don't trust that map, but you may have a point: We have no proof of both of them remaining in Vergen, but we don't have any proof of them going anywhere neither.
3. Saskia DID want to rule, but not because she wanted power, in fact, she wanted to do so because she believed she was the only one able to keep the three races united. And it's not like if losing a battle against Nilfgaard would mean death to nonhumans. That's not the nilfgaardian way.

I have nothing else to say.

Exactly what I was trying to tell him :p

All that talk of incompetence and rushed releases aside, it is rather disappointing if Iorveth or some other important W2 characters don't show up in Witcher 3. I chose the Iorveth option during that shaving scene myself ( although I played both paths during Witcher 2 ), but now that seems rather pointless, unless it has any other significant consequences.

And no, there can't really be only one legitimate "canon" version of the story. Not in a multiple path/ choose-your-own-adventure type game. Otherwise, why bother implementing such features at all?
Well I played all sids in W2 but enjoyed Iorveth. That said he's a very minor character. He's just a local commander not some king/general. While it would be nice to see him it is illogical to see him or Saskia. They are either still fighting in Upper Aderin or have been pushed back over the Pontar into Kedewin.

If they retreat to any other place it would be Kovir to the east. Why in the world would he come to where Radovid is and the bulk of the Nilgardian army? That makes absolutly zero sense.

As for "cannon", sorry to burst your bubble but inr eality there really is only one. Now minor characters like Iorveth, Saskia, Letho etc can live or die based on your choices. They really have very little impact on the big picture anyway. But the main guys like Henselt, Radovid etc. are alive/dead and doing what they want regardless of your W1/W2 choices.

In the game there are various small elves encampment hidden away in the forest or close to roads, even if you never meet Iorveth again in person they should at least mention him if you try to talk to them

Instead even if you chose Iorveth path in W2 everyone treat you exactly the same, not even an "Hey it's Geralt, the one that saved our sorry asses back then..."

No matter how you put it, and even if i like this game, this is laziness and/or incompetence in completely ignoring such important events as those

Plus even if you side with Roche and kill the "Unicorn", don't remember his name, the event is not mentioned at all anywhere, not even casually by the non-human haters. Just as he is not mentioned if he lives after his "Victory against non-humans"

It just seems that W2 events are completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things

The last thing, about the unicorn, is not entirely true. If you let him live, well, you'll learn more about his fate... And if you let Roche kill him, why would they mention him?
