OOPS 2x post... pls delete this one, dear mod :)
Hello Guys,
i am a TW3(+all DLCs) pre-orderer who hasn't been able to play the game untill stumbleing upon a "gold nugget" yesterday.
First let me talk about the gamebreaking, lets call it bug, atleast thats what it is for us folks sensitive to lag/stutter.
Should be common knowledge by now that if you navigate Gerald with Keyboard and mouse the expierencie is utterly awful: As soon as you move the camera around it feels choppy as if the framerate is dropping below 20.
In my case I had settings giving me around 80 FPS and they felt horrendous, as soon as the mouse is used to pan the camera. If you switch to a Gamepad(xbox) it feels silky smooth even at way less frames as the before mention 80.
The mouse-input is messed up. (Some people say its working fine even on default settins but i suspect they are just blessed. Not because they dont have the stutter but they for whatever reasons arent "offended"(/recognizing) by them...i mean i met people who played the newest shooter on their old ass rig, claiming it running smooth whilst the framecounter showed 23 fps.
I tried every fix out there to no avail thus after years i labeled TW3 as my favorite game that i never will have played.
This weekend i took another shot....trying to play the game with a controller.... but that fries my braincells, just not used to move the camera around with a stick hence it is more work than joy. So i thought I waste even more of my time reading the same old posts on the same old forums of this world, containing none working fixes/workarounds....i am stubborn.
I Ended up in the same thread on the Steam Forum i have went through countless of times before and there it was!
A single post that never caught my attention before. Never seen it beeing mentioned anywhere else on the net and even in that Topic it falls completely under the radar. It's a pretty, kinda non-logical, simple setting tho i dont know if it works on its own or in cohesion with the commonly advised settings. Hope it works for you too!
So without further ado :
1. Step: Video -> Graphics: Hardware Cursor OFF
2. Step: Controller Settings: lower the SENSIVITY to 0.10 ingame and the SAME VALUE for the MENUE !
3. Step: Video -> Graphics: Hardware Cursor ON
Looks like the important thing is to set the same sense value for both ingame and menu.
That's the game changer for me. I could be more scientifc and test if these above mentioned steps are the only one needed but i keep my hands off. Never change a fiiiiiiiinaly working game ;)
Additional notes regarding my settings:
- GOG overlay is turned off (might be a culprit)
- I am running Rivatuner ( is not a cul...)
- Nvdia Control Panel: "Max prerendered frames: 1
- The sometimes mentioned Graphics-Settings like turn of blur etc. have no influnce for me, mouse camare is worrking like a charm now....despite of frames
