"Keyboard and Mouse detected - Control scheme changed"

Whenever I enter the options menu, every single action I do there triggers that message. That's quite annoying. Can it be turned off? Can I change the default control scheme to mouse+keyboard?

Actually, everytime I see it I have the feeling it actually reads: "This is meant to be a console game... for you, miserable PC player, we'll make an exception and change the controls from Controller to Mouse+Keyboard."
It's not because you play with the keyboard, it's the same with a controller.
Ah, thanks for the info, at least that removed the bad taste that message had for me.

Still, it's annoying ;-)
"...\The Witcher 3\bin\config\base"

Open up "hidden.ini" with notepad.

Change "LockControlScheme=0" to "LockControlScheme=2"

that takes away the message, without taking the ability to go from gamepad to M&K on the fly...

For me, that removed the Cursor, so I changed it back to "LockControlScheme=0".

Oh snap lol. Sorry, that was a funny answer. Damn, what is happening in those Witcher files that for some ppl it removes messages but for others it removes their cursor?! That's some weird magical shnitzel going on right there..
But yes, it is annoying and I also gave me the 'You Puny PC Gamer' vibe.
It's cruel to say outloud but considdering the amount of dissapointment I felt from the lack of key rebind and FOV options, at least we're all in this mess together, hoping for some relief. *Sigh*

Now that I think about it, I can't remember if it even took away the message. The lack of cursor was kinda pressing, so I focused on that :o)

I don't trust the whole 'Detecting new control scheme' or whatever it says. Even without rebinding anything, it still resaves the settings file. It's probably not doing anything at all, but I don't know... it looks shifty to me :o)

In all seriousness, I agree: a lot of disappointments. I kinda dislike the generic accusation that a game is consolised, but yeah, I too just can't help thinking that the PC version needed to fit in with the console way of doing things. It's still The Witcher, but... not as much as before.

Unfortunately, we're now in the realms of 'Time will tell' to see how a fair number of things pan out.

Long reply... sorry about that :o)
I get the same message too and find it a little annoying but at the same time it doesn't seem to actually do anything or change anything. Just seems like a spurious and unnecessary message almost like a debug message or something. They'll likely (hopefully) patch it out in the future. I'll just ignore it though as it just appears cosmetic.
This so annoying I just can't bear it anymore... at least they don't have this on ps4 !

Yeah, I've not noticed any actual edits to the settings file.
it does it to me all the time also!
@ m1k3ol - thanx, it helped to minimize this controller detected message problem. I don't know about others but for me its disabling the Keyboard which is fine for me as I'm constantly using Xbox 360 controller.
I switch a lot between gamepad and keyboard (i use the xbox button as a keyboard shift key to add more keybinds in game) this helped out a lot thanks guys for posting this info that message was driving me crazy...

it doesnt disable keyboard to me but it does hides the mouse cursor for some reason but i prefer not having that message so ill live with it/
I like switch between keyboard and controller, so that one fix won't work for me. I am getting this message every couple of minutes and it's hella annoying. Are there any more concrete fixes known for this?
Very annoying indeed.

Playing with a controller, this message appears on every screenshot I take.
