I am trying to pre-load the game via Galaxy. However, it won't start the download because of the following problem: "Installation failed: out of disk space".

I have 53 GB of free space on my harddrive F:. I have configured Galaxy to install to F:

What is the problem?

I assume that Galaxy checks the disk space on C: and determines that there isn't enough disk space.

Please tell me how to fix this!!

okay, I have solved the problem by choosing to de-install the game via Galaxy first and then re-installing it.

I am letting you know in case you have the same problem.

I have the same problem as you - I have 72GB free disk space. I tried what you said: uninstalled the game via Galaxy, closed Galaxy reopened and tried to install.. no luck. Even uninstalled, reinstalled Galaxy didnt fix the problem.

It does seem like Galaxy is wanting to install everything on C: drive by default even though i changed it in the settings plus installed Galaxy on my other drive. Frustrating!
Same problem here guys.
My PC is new and i have almost 730Go of free space...
WTF GOG ? i paid a game ! I want to play it.
Same hier. 150GB of free space....

Here is a possible fix. Go to your GOG Client, click on the game, click on "more", Configure, and then select uninstall game. Once the game is uninstalled, go to your settings menu icon shaped like a gear, and enter a folder that you would like the game installed. Once that is done, click "Manage all folders manually", and then click "Ok".

Go back to the games menu and reinstall the game. Worked for me.
I had to click the options wheel at the bottom left in galaxy and change all locations from c to my bigger disk and its now working.{even the install temp location}
hope this helps :}

This worked for me, thanks. i originally was pressing verify game and it would fail with the not enough space error message, clicking install like you said made the client download around 50mb of files and it worked after that!

This solved my problem. Damn, that gear icon is hidden way down there. Not a good UI design.
I firstly downloaded all the files manually however continually got checksum errors.

I then tried galaxy to download to my HDD but it insists I have no disk space. I eventually managed to download the files to an external disk but it would not install and all files end with a . download extension.

I then tried uninstalling galaxy and reinstalling and pointing at my internal HD again but once again it is telling me I have no space. I then pointed it back at the external HD and instead of picking up I had already downloaded the files it has started redownloading everything again!!!

This is really not acceptable probably the worst experience I have ever had trying to install a game. I literally cannot play this game and I have owned it for over 2 days now!!!

Having this issue as well. What's weird is that GOG actually worked for a while (it installed and updated my game successfully without needing to configure anything). Then I downloaded the DLCs for Witcher 3, and the game felt more crash-prone, so I decided to uninstall them. And this is when the problem started.

After I uninstalled the DLC's, I realized that none of my save files work anymore, so I tried to reinstall them. Suddenly GOG started throwing the "out of disk space" errors, despite the fact that I have 1.5TB of free disk space??

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling GOG and the game itself multiple times already; tried setting folder permissions; tried changing the download folder to different locations, nothing worked.

In the meantime I am downloading the patches manually, which is annoying.

BTW does anyone know if this issue affects achievements at all? I noticed that my achievements don't seem to be updating.
Is your 1.5TB of free space on your C: drive?
The installation & setup files use your temp directory, which by default is on C:
If your C:\ drive has little free space, that might be the problem.
In my case I was able to fix this issue by going to the folder that I was installing the game(s) to and changing the Security settings and giving the Users group full control and so far it seems to be working.
Anytime I try to apply patches this same thing happens. I wanted to get patch 1.0.5 and it gives me the same error. Eventually I had to uninstall it, search for every file of witcher 3 and delete every single last thing except my saved games for it to be apply to reinstall it and apply the patch. This is ridiculous, never using GOG again.
