Same issue, game freezes and requires a computer restart. Also running a 970 and I5
same for me. actually i just started a new topic regarding this.
i have gtx 580 SLI, and the only case the game runs without any problem is when i choose low or medium graphics settings.

I wouldn't be surprised if the latest NVidia driver has some issues. The one they released for hardline did, too late in the day for me now but if there isn't a fix for this tomorrow then i'll be rolling back my drivers to see if that helps.
Try starting it with administrators rights. Worked for me
Yeah i got same problem. 2 times now it just locks up randomly it seems. Running on gtx 970.

Should have stayed in bed :/
i found out that if you use a bluetooth ps4 , the game will restart the pc, randomly, lol

Getting random crashes to desktop.

First instance was a driver failure, stopped responding just into the prologue after training. Uninstalled EVGA Precision X (shit program anyway) and it allowed me to play for a few hours.

Second crash happened just now, CTD, no warnings or errors. Scene halted, character kept talking, minimized, closed.
Very similar to some problems I was having with W2 before I deleted the config folder and fixed it.

Restarting now to clear memory. Might end up rolling back drivers as well if this doesn't work.

i7-2600K stock
GTX 980 stock
8gb G.Skill 1600

edit - restarted, played for about 20, minimize, crash to desktop again. Pretty frustrating.

I can launch the game but as soon as I start a new game it crashes to the desktop. Everyone said forget steam GOG is the way to go. What a crock.
I'm getting random game freezes. Then I have to force end via task manager. I have to save alot. Seems to hit me when I enter menu.

Is there a quicksave?
I am having the same issue and it worked fine before I connected it to GOG Galaxy.
Just a followup to let everyone know:

I took several measures after my crashes failed to stop, from my previous post:

I rolled back Nvidia drivers to the GTA 5 release (350.12)

Made a copy of the W3 executable directly on my desktop and set it to run without desktop composition and also under administrator.

I also stopped launching GoG Galaxy, instead opting to launch W3 directly from the desktop icon.

So far I've not had a crash in several hours. Performance is just fine as well.

Settings are all ultra 2K res, hairworks disabled, Vsync on, borderless window (full screen stutters every 3 seconds or so, or did, haven't tried it since rolling back), AA on, motion blur off. Think that's about it.

I've had problems with the game crashing too, well, more like freezing and then crashing. In my case it turns out it was MSI Afterburner's OSD that was causing it. Closed it. Haven't had a crash since. Just thought someone might find this info useful. :)

EDIT: Still FREEZING/CRASHING no matter what I do in game.

Scratch that, rolling back did not fix my problems. Crashed again. Don't know what do to at this point.
