I finally decided to go to Novigrad to play the quest which involves Triss. But up entering the big square my game started to crash to desktop multiple times. I reloaded and after 2 crashes the game froze and i got a BSOD. After restarting the computer i tried changing the FPS from 60 to unlimeted ( already playing full screen ) and didnt affect anything after 1 minute of playing a new freeze + BSOD. After rebooting again i loaded in a got a freeze + BSOD straight away.

At the moment i can't play anymore because of the game keeps freezing for me. No clue how to fix it. I didnt' have any crashes or freezes before i entered Novigrad. Played about 30-40 hours fine.

Any help would be nice.
Hi there,

I have the excact same problem. I've done almost EVERYTHING outside of Novigrad because after entering town, my system freezes. There's no temperature problem or sth like that....

I can reproduce the crash by talking to the elvish girl that's molested by two guys. When the cutscene starts, the PC freezes.

I've had problems with the game freezing since 1.04 - set the max FPS to 30 and I was able to play for more than a week without problems. Now with 1.05 the freezes come up quite often again.

It's so sad :-( I want to meet Triss!
Hello again,

I searched the Gforce Forums and stumbled upon one guy reporting he was able to fix that issue by reducing the GPU Clock by 100 MHz and the Memory by 80 MHz with the "NVIDIA Inspector"-Tool (it's free, just ask your preferred search engine for it).

I'll try that out and will report back!

Hey,

I made those settings and entered Novigrad from the Harbour Gate (SE) - works like a charm (had freezes there before). Then I triggered the cutscene with the elvish girl (100% freeze all the time) and it went through without any problems.

I run the game in full-screen window due to my 2-screen monitor setup. On the 2nd screen I monitored the GPU stats within the NVIDIA Inspector-Tool. The GPU was 99% all the time (1600x1024 Ultra settings) but it feels way more "stable" now. I will play the entire afternoon in Novigrad and report back if the issues came back.
Hey again,

I spent around 3 hours in Novigrad doin' quests with cutscenes and everything, different time-of-day scenarios, no freezes or crashes. I think this works for me....

Kind regards
Since yesterday the game freezes my PC after the intro (when Geralt is chilling at the campsite in the menu).

I rage for a while now and stop playing.
